LIVE from the Camino Account of a very challenging day SJPdP to Roncesvalles (crazy weather)

Thanks for the update. Stay healthy and safe. It's so easy to get sick in this kind of weather. Buen Camino!

    Diversity on the Camino

Based on our experience, it doesn’t really matter where one is from. As we walk the Camino, most peregrinos become attached to a group or groups of people we walk with or meet at the end of the day in our lodgings or in the same town. There is a spirit of community and camaraderie that allows...

    Diversity on the Camino

I can totally relate. This was how we felt most of the time. But then we just treated it as part of our Camino experience which in hindsight made our Camino that much more special. Buen Camino!

    Diversity on the Camino

As Asians (aka, people of color) we stood out during our Camino. We were often asked where we were from. We didn’t mind and were happy to talk to or engage with anyone friendly enough. In Moratinos, we had a lovely dinner with a rather diverse group at the Albergue San Bruno: Mary from US...

    Drinking water @hotels

Based on our experience tap water on the Camino is safe to drink. My wife has a sensitive tummy and only drinks bottled water at home but she had no issues with drinking tap water on the Camino. Spain has one of the most advanced public filtration and water management systems in the world and...

Oregonian article about octogenarian pilgrim and his son

“like a giant painting and we get to walk across the canvas.” Love this quote. Thanks for sharing. God bless!

How to express support to peregrinos who are walking

I've seen several hundred Camino videos over the years but this is the first one where the pilgrims' adult children actually posted a video expressing their support and appreciation for their parents while they're still walking the Camino, even though they don't really understand what they...

How did you prepare your mind for the Camino?

Thanks for sharing your insights Phil. IMHO these are things that can only be learned from experience. I may not have experienced them but I can appreciate and can learn from them.

How did you prepare your mind for the Camino?

"Negative anticipation" Thanks for pointing this out Andonius and Rita. I believe I may be experiencing a bit of this now even before I begin the Camino. But now I know what it is and can begin to deal with it. Thanks again.

How did you prepare your mind for the Camino?

Do you even have to? What has been your experience? Surely walking for 30-40 days will have a toll on the mind as well. I will be doing my first Camino from October to November 2023. All inputs will be appreciated. Thanks.

    'Nobody owes you anything' Really?

In a strictly materialistic sense, maybe. But Covid taught me: money can't buy health. 😊

Problems convincing youth to go on a Camino...any experience?

I would just add, you invite someone their age (or closer to their age) who has done the Camino and enjoyed it to talk about it and answer questions. Their perspective would be different from the older hikers.

Belgian pilgrim died on the Camino.

Requiescet in pace Lander Segers! Deus benedicat!

Has any pilgrim decided to move to Spain?

If you have a job opportunity, I'd say go for it. But check the tax rates for "remote" employment, I think this is something new, just to be sure it's worth it. Have done a lot of research on moving to Spain over the years, what I found is that for a foreigner Spain is a good place to live in...

    Beware of price gouging

Not sure if I'm allowed to post Youtube links here but BDE Travels on his video posted on Aug 7 2021 told about a very similar incident. BDE and his wife stopped at this bar with huge iron ant sculptures somewhere between Portomarin and Palais del Rey (I've seen this bar on other videos) and his...
