Double check when you call your banks to inform of travel...
I informed my bank (Natwest) before going on Camino and was told that it made no difference, my card could still be blocked! Always take another card just to be sure- Thomr

Bed Bugs - permethrin
Have you tried a backpacker's anti-bed bug sheet? Me and my sister got ours from Amazon uk for about £10 and have used them on twp Caminos and they definitely keep the bed bugs away! A little extra weight but definitely worth it- Thomr

I do that too, failing finding any on the Camino I look through any guide books on Spain to see what they say :)- Thomr
