Hola, Peregrinos!
I haven't made my Camino as yet, but I recently felt inspired to write a poem based on a phrase that we all seem to use around the forum. Any constructive criticism is welcomed and appreciated.
"Buen Camino"
It's a greeting, and a "fare-thee-well",
To wish...
I'm sure she didn't have to carry her rucksack all over the Camino. I'm shocked her parents let her go, seeing as how it was a huge security risk and logistical nightmare. The Secret Service would have tried to blend in; but some of what they carry (radios, badges, weapons, etc) would have made...
I was thinking of sewing the Stars and Stripes onto my pack, but I might not do so out of a desire to avoid attracting that much potential unwanted attention. Maybe the flag from Bunker Hill?
Buen Camino!

"May the road rise to meet you, may the sun shine warm upon your face, may the wind be always at your back. May the rain fall soft upon your fields. And until we meet again, may the Lord hold you in the hollow of His hand."
Buen Camino!

I have a question on food eaten in a bar or restaurant. According to the Brierley guide, one should enjoy tapas while in Navarre. However; as our good pal Joost says to Tom in "The Way", they're called pinchos. My question is: who's right? Either way, I don't want to look like a fool calling...
It is, actually :D . I have always had a special place in my heart for the Franciscan Order. I was watching the documentary that Netflix did about Father Mychal called The Saint of 9/11, and it was very moving. When they were talking about how he held an AIDS patient in his arms and rocked him...
I was looking for prayers and blessings for the Camino, and thank the Lord they're here! Annie, I'd be interested in helping with your chaplets, it sounds like a worthy cause.
Buen Camino <----ANOTHER BLESSING :)

I'm planning on treating my pack, sleeping bag, sheet (with pillowcase sewn on) and travel pillow with the permethrin before setting out on my Camino. Don't want the little critters ruining a once in a lifetime experience.
I guess one of my reservations about staying in a hostel is that my new-found friends would be of the "party all night and come into the dorm at 3am wasted beyond belief" variety that I came across in a London youth hostel when I was an exchange student. I was thinking of staying in Paris for a...
Okay,
I know that I have responded at least twice already, but I thought of a luxury item that could also be classified as a necessity: a caffeine source. I like coffee most of the time, but sometimes it makes me jittery. Growing up, I developed a taste for tea. Irish Breakfast or Earl Grey are...
Re: Choice, or necessity?
I think that I'm pretty determined to walk alone, at least for the beginning. This is something I would want for a number of reasons.
1.) my walking pace will be erratic at first, until I settle into a rhythm.
2.) I want to use the first few days of my Camino as a...
I've decided to make several Camino playlists on my iPod, different sets for different moods. I like classical, jazz, folk, etc so having different playlists makes sense. If I could make a suggestion, check out the soundtrack to "the Way". I was doing a training walk the other day, and "my oh...
