    Which GPS do you recommend?

I walked my Camino with a Garmin GPS 60Cx. It wasn't of any use. But I kept a track of my walking, just for fun. I bought my maps from the Garmin web-site. Ultreya, Carli Di Bortolo

What is the most you have walked in a day?

My maximum was about 34 Km. I met an elderly lady from Australia, Veronica. "You know", she said, "I am walking some 10 Km a day, and I am getting to Santiago as well..." Saw her twice, she took a bus every once in a while. And I also met a German guy, walking 50 Km a day. Never saw him again...

    Butler

My advice: First go to Nepal, the Himalya, and over there, hire a Sherpa... (They do exactly what you want for those climbing the Mount Everest, so why not in Spain?) Ultreya, Carli Di Bortolo

    Guitar on the Camino

Yep, I met one also, except the playing part . After a while I asked him to hand over the guitar to me. I tuned it, played some etudes and after a thin and small applause I handed it back to him. No one touched a string afterwards. So if you can play, take your guitar. And if not... (And...

Are St James' relics really held in Santiago's cathedral?

Re: are St. James' relics really held in Santiago's cathedral Ahhhhh. A hand-pumped ale. I linger for a pint or two... Some things are impossible to get on the Camino (or in Holland) Ultreya, Carli Di Bortolo

    A Short Blog on Tapas

Re: A Camino de Tapas Isn't there a thing called "Paris-Dakar" in Santiago, where you have to go from cafeteria Paris to cervecería Dakar, and have to drink or eat something at every bar in between? Does that come with something like a Credencial? Ultreya, Carli Di Bortolo

Are St James' relics really held in Santiago's cathedral?

Re: are St. James' relics really held in Santiago's cathedral I think some correction is needed here: James is the son of Zebedee and Salome, His brother was John. Salome was the sister of Mary. Ultreya, Carli Di Bortolo

    El camino del Rey

Yep, Walked it. But only half of it. Just before the bridge there was that gap in the pathway, to be crossed over on a plank of some 30 cm wide. That was my limit. On my way back, I was looking for security by taking hold of my camera very tight. Ultreya, Carli Di Bortolo

Small unexpected kindnesses on the Camino

My best memory on this item was in France. After a long day's walk I was tired, sat down in a little bar annex shop and arranged my sleep-over. Next morning I had my breakfast at the same bar and had a little chat with the owner of the bar, an elder lady, Thérèse de Paris. She wanted to go on...

Spain spanish to South america spanish

Re: Spain spainish to South america spainish Lee is right. Catalan or Catalá is a total different language. The main difference between Latin-American Spanish and Spanish Spanish (Castellano) is pronunciation and vocabulary. People speaking those two variations of the same language will...

    Aiming for a record

And isn't that a sad day for the Camino? Why the hurry? Why the record? This has nothing to do with the spirit of the Camino. Ultreya, Carli Di Bortolo

    bed bugs and sleping bags-again!

Well, Can't we attach a frame and shoulder straps to it, thus constructing a "kil-a-bedbug-backpack" :D Ultreya, Carli Di Bortolo

    johnnie walker milestones

Reading all this... In Galicia (and I think even in the province of Leon) on nearly every bar there are some bottles with a dispencer, to "awaken" your coffee. Oruju. Severe stuff. Ultreya, Carli Di Bortolo.

New record in August with 54 764 Compostelas

Looks more to 250.00 to me. 225.000 point is already passed. I made some extrapolation from numbers on the past 10 years, and 250.000 pops out. Ultreya, Carli Di Bortolo

    Lovely Poem

And what about this one? It was handed to me in Navarrenx. Ultreya, Carli Di Bortolo. Walk Alone with others, Thou thyself thy rivals Thou thyself finding thy companions Thou thyself seeing thy enemies thou thyself making thy brothers Walk Thy head knows not where thy feet take thy heart...
