Knee Problems that you can fix yourself - knee effusion

Hey Robo Not sure if you were serious but some clown might actually try this. This video is of an ejit trying to avoid medical bills by experimenting on himself. Wait till he has to deal with the costs of septic arthritis and the consequent knee replacement. Don’t try this at home! Sorry if...

Being a guest in a private home: are they still there?

Not sure if this is the right thread, but... I was reading my diary from last year (Vezelay to SDC) and came across the following. It was written after I had a been a lone (happy) guest at Posada El Pescador, in Oreña. “I need to make a point about some of the most hospitable hosts and...

    Why Pilgrimage?

I’ve tried to answer this a thousand times, to my friends, my family but mostly to myself. I think the long walk is the framework, the skeleton on which the Camino experience is built. That’s just where it starts. I understand that for some, it’s where it ends too, but not for me. Then add...

    Happy 2020 all!

Kia ora Ivar In New Zealand it was 0258! Our New year skies are hazy from the fires in Oz, but the weather is balmy. Happy New Year to all and any on their Caminos at this time. John

Changes in Castilla y León ?

We noticed several times on the Francès in 2015 when walking through Leon, graffiti saying Castilla Y Leon with the Y underlined. John

Walking a Camino is a Very Selfish Act - Isn't it?

    Why do I say selfish? Self-critical, self-indulgent, self-improving, self-reflective, self-focused, self-worth, self-doubting, self-analytical, self-flagellating. Selfish?

Walking a Camino is a Very Selfish Act - Isn't it?

Kia Ora @Robo Yes. It is about as selfish as it gets. But where else do you get the time, the headspace to focus on You? I found that although I pretended it was all about self improvement, I actually had to commit to certain reflective routines during the day or any benefit could have been...

    Bed bug bite HELP

Hi Loretta The rash that you describe could be bed bugs but it could also be other things. Some of these will go away but some (such as scabies) may not. You may do well to get it checked by someone such as a doctor who knows the differences between different types of rashes. Best of luck with...

Post a photo(s) of "artistic" camino shells seen while walking

In a quarry before Espalion, basalt crystals. I think I posted this somewhere else by mistake.

Have you practiced, or received a random act of kindness on your pilgrimage?

I walked into Mussidan in the rain on 9th May. I entered the church to be confronted by a dozen or so drinking aperitifs. They were priests who had been doing a mission. After accepting an aperitif (it was after midday) I accepted a huge lunch of several courses. Disclaimer: I’m not a Catholic...

    Thinking of you NZ

We are devastated to think it can happen (did happen) here. There is nothing we can do to really atone for the terrible damage done. My Camino plans (from Vézelay) seem a trivial effort by comparison. It makes me think that pilgrimage is such a selfish thing. But for some reason it still seems...

Is anyone here knowledgeable about WordPress blogs?

Thanks freeflyer123. I’m still struggling so I’ll have a look at yours. I think the solution is to pick a theme that is designed for blogs rather than a general website. I’ll keep trying. I start my Camino from Vézelay in April so have a month or so to sort it. John

Is anyone here knowledgeable about WordPress blogs?

@Magwood recommends Twenty Ten on Wordpress, but it’s not available on my (recently purchased) app. It sounds like Twenty Sixteen though. Does anyone have experience of using Twenty Sixteen for blogs? John
