Garbanzo beans are so much better in Spain

:possibly using and Instant Pot to cook your beans from dry might get you better results. At least it has for me. I have a small 3qt one. Just a suggestion!

    Afghans on trees

It's called yarn bombing. At least that's what we call it near me. And yup, it's for no other reason than to bring a smile to those who see them. Just before Covid, on the Camino Portuguese we found the entire plaza had been done by the local school children of the village. Great way for...

    Early morning coffee

I’ve done this...usually find a microwave in Albergues. I like the Starbucks Via best of all the instant options. It at least gets me to the first real cafe, as I’m not legal in public without caffeine.

LIVE from the Camino Calling all CURRENT hospitaleros!! (Nov 2021)

Hola! Finishing up at Astorga which is a follow on from Grado on the Primitivo. Would love to help more but the family is indicating they’re getting tired of Her Ladyships unceasing demands. So I must return and take charge of her again. Cats. So particular. 🤣 but it’s been more than six weeks...

COVID I received my Corona "passport" today:

I like the electronic! Mine is a small...odd sized card that got stamped after each shot. And of course I can't find it right now...put it in the most dangerous of places in this household...a safe place. I'll find it but what an aggravation!

Hiking Quotes - just for fun.

I may just have to PM her and find out!! :-)

Hiking Quotes - just for fun.

LOL!! I wonder how many of us started young like that? I too have always wandered. My poor grandparents in Germany would go for after dinner stroll and I'd tag along from the time I was tiny. And always always I would wonder what was ahead, around the next corner. Then at five my first...

    Do You Ever Get Days...

Only every day. And that's after 6 walks. I had only been home maybe two and half weeks when the plotting and planning for number 7 began followed by 8 and 9!! Number 7 is Fatima to Porto, then Porto to Santiago...and then Canterbury to Rome. I excuse myself to family by adding that I'm...

    Three not so Wise men.

Gasps in absolute horror!! I quite honestly check the sunrise/sunset times every day now in an effort to maintain my sanity...LOVE cold weather but the dark...that is a totally different story.

Has anyone ever considered a Camino "round trip"?

Having walked the route recently....yeah I don't think he walked!! But yes, I've often thought about a return walk. The family might have other thoughts!

Do ladies pee in the woods? I think we know the answer.

The term used in my family growing up ... heck even today I'll say this on occasion... Pinklepause! Almost doesn't need to be translated to english, but it's literally Pee/Tinkle break. Although my guys would like and appreciate the car related term!! ;) Vielen Dank!

    Camino coffee

Exactly!! Actually have found the Starbucks Via's the best for those desperate moments when there ain't no coffee to be had. The ONLY bad coffee in Spain is from the machines. But I still have that just to become legal to move around. It says so right on my license, check blood caffeine...

Hi, Everyone. An Update, and My Gratitude For You All

@davebugg YEAH!! Thanks SO much for responding when you could. So now we just pray as you make that transition to home again. I find it's never really easy. Sometimes it's downright difficult. But, in response to your comment: "I really am astounded by you’re the positive way you have...

    Spiritual Exercises of St Ignatius

@timr Thank you. Love the format and the ease of carrying it with me! May actually help with my re-entry this time around. The Invierno would also be a great route to walk while doing the exercises. Very quiet.

    Ultreya song lyrics in English

Finished the Camino verde. Happy as a clam!! Blisters and all. Even after five, count em, five sock changes!! Grrr. So a day in Sobrado. Knitting in my lap. Cafe con leche at hand. Such a tragic life .
