It was a very wet rainy day on the Portugese camino in October so to keep going while sloshing in my boots I was singing
"It's raining it's pouring. The pilgrims are snoring. They bumped their heads on their bunk beds and couldn't get up in the morning. "
Not great but hey.
You can get some little toe socks. They are like cushioning for your toes. You get them from chemists and they come in tube like socks that you cut to size. My hubby wears them.
Have to say bottom. Will go on top if I need to but on the bottom ( i can hear all the dirty minds going) I screen myself off with a sorong and make a cubby house. Like everyone else climbing up ladders in the middle of the night for the loo is just too much as well.
My advice. Keep up the good work! That just sounds all normal and good to me. I sometimes think I'm just obsessed with hiking and travel then I think.... Oh well could be worst things to be obsessed about. I'm just living and having fun. ;)
I stopped having milk in my coffee many years ago for this very reason. I'm always an early riser and love a cuppa before anything is open so I carry coffee bags and mug.
I believe that if this is what people are doing then they are only cheating themselves. Some people tend to go through their lives in a constant state of denial. To me that's their problem. We all travel through our lives in the way that we choose. I choose different to them. I wouldn't feel at...
Hi Charliemag. I got my passport from the albergue in San Sebastián when I arrived. That was 3 years ago now. I remember the first day walking we kept thinking we will get to the next town and find an albergue but the so called towns were just farms. We walked a good 35 km's before finding one...
Ha ha. Men and there stomachs. I'm not taking mine on this one but in May next year we are walking the second half of the Via Francigena through Italy. He is excited for the food.
I use it for hiking out bush mostly. Didn't take it when I did the Del Norte route in Spain and I won't take it to do the Portuguese route in September. I don't think I will need it for that. Have you done the Portuguese way Kanga? I know you have done several.
That's so right Kanga. Here in Australia we don't get coverage everywhere. I never take my phone just don't see the point. What I do have is an Epirb. So if I get into trouble in a remote place, like a broken leg, I can set it off.
Good for you. I'm always in training mode. I just love being active but when I'm getting close to a trek I pick up the pace and train loads. I always say I want to enjoy my trip not endure it. ATM I am getting ready for my Portuguese way but unfortunately ( or fortunate it happened now not on...
Michael that's funny you worry about your poles. I have this worry about my boots. I even painted butterflies on the toes of them so it would discourage anyone taking them. I have big feet for a female so no girl would fit them and I'm not sure if any man would love butterflies on there feet. As...
All I do is take my clothes into the shower with me. After wringing the clothes I roll them in my towel gets the excess and hang to dry. If not dry by morning they are on the back of my pack. As they are light weight clothes they are usually dry. Just the socks take forever.
