I turned 80 this year and, apart from facing shoulder replacement surgery this winter, am still planning to walk the Mozarabe as soon as I am recovered, maybe fall '24. There has always been "just one more route" that we'd like to walk. For me, it is the Mozarabe. My partner Wes is now 87...
I've had two knees replaced and put hundreds and hundreds of Camino miles since -- just do the physical therapy exercises like a new religion after your surgery and you will walk the Caminos again. At 80, I'm looking toward a possible Mozarabe in my near future...
I had both knees replaced and have put hundreds and hundreds of camino kilometers on them. So grateful we live at a time when joint replacements are possible!!
He was on the border in Mexico providing meals for refugees in the camps waiting to be allowed to seek refuge in the US during Trump's Stay in Mexico time.
Have been bitten on every (6) camino and have the allergic reaction -- large red itchy areas with blisters filled with pus. I spray my sleeping bag and pack with permethrin but still get bitten. Am A+ and I voted. Sigh.
Thank you Letting but I tried wikiloc.com and couldn't make head or tails of it (I know I am technicologically challenged!). Maybe I haven't been clear about what I am looking for.
As I understand it, there is an app that shows the route in the form of a map of the Via de la Plata, from...
I found this question from Stephen dating back to 2012 but there were no responses. Now I am planning to walk the Via de la Plata starting mid March and for the first time I am thinking I should download a map app on my phone since I will be walking alone. Since I am barely in this century...
At just 2 months short of 76, and Wes now 82, we have walked 5 Caminos and now are planning to start the Via de la Plata in March of this coming year, 2019. But I have some different thoughts about this question that I'd like to share.
Not everyone can walk a Camino, carrying a pack, in their...
I traveled many years ago as a Servas traveler (with Servas hosts). Check it out on the web -- it is a lovely way to meet people from all over the world, promote cultural exchange, and generally work for peace. There is no charge and visitors are expected to spend at least 2 nights in order to...
Ordered it! Never cared to try one but your post convinced me it's worth a try. I'm also one who, like loumura, is off to the woods after one cup of joe. Heading for the Via de la Plata in March and not much in the way of woods. Thanks!
Good to hear this report. It is important to me to not patronize places that accept this behavior. Don't get me started on my experience with Iberia and the lost hiking poles!
Besides planning my next camino, I garden in the warm seasons, volunteer in a number of organizations in our area (Mohawk Trail Concerts, Mary Lyon Foundation, The Art Garden and more...also work as a clerk during elections -- remember to VOTE everyone!), do lots of drawing, and walk, walk...
At 81 and 75 Wes and I enjoyed some wonderful interactions with people on the Caminos who discovered our ages -- the butcher who insisted on giving us a chorizo ("no pay!, no pay!') and the waitress who gave us a whole tortilla espanol to take with us (wrapped up in aluminum foil), and the folks...
He's young, there's years of Tours ahead of him. As a Tour addict, I'll be glad it's over tomorrow and I can get back to my life (planning another Camino!).
