We left behind our life sadness at Cruz de Ferro. We told the story of Miracle Man's operation (my husband) to walk the Camino with me and it inspired others.
We look at our photos and fantastic memory board and can't believe we actually did it. Everyday we say "remember that place, person...
Before we left Australia on the 1st September a friend asked 'is it wise to travel given the state of the world ?'. If we had thought that way we would have missed out on 6 wonderful weeks- one more to go then we will go home and tell them of our wonderful camino tales!
We love IZ and "our" song for motivating each other when it gets a bit tough is going to be IZ singing "Starting Over Again". I have put a link to that somewhere on the forum.
Thanks David. I have been experimenting and I think it is because my legs and feet are too cold !!! Yesterday I kept my legs warmer when I walked and even wore two pairs of socks to walk the dog on the beach (instead of just my crocs) and I had no cramping the last two nights - again wearing 2...
David, are you going to be around Puente La Reina on the 12th? When in Castrojeriz? We might see you. If everything goes to plan we should be in Puenta La Reina around the 11th and Castrojeriz on the 22nd. Look for the backpacks with a forum badge and kangaroo patch.
Thanks for all the...
Thanks Alyssa. At our age we cannot afford to say "one day" because it is now or never. As we realise that our "one day" is actually now, we intend to try and live each day fully on the Camino and appreciate everything. In all probability we will never do it again. Literally this time next...
Thank you. I needed to hear that this morning and to see the beautiful photos. I am so pleased that your Camino went so well. Didn't your dad question whether you had done enough training before you left? If it was you, then you proved you had... You are a pilgrim well and truly.
I am really questioning my sanity this week. All the last minute "what ifs", "will it work wearing this", "have I done enough training", "why can't you go on a cruise like everyone else"!!!!! etc. etc. 7 sleeps until we have a 4 hour drive to the airport then hours hanging around......but...
So let me get this straight. Walking 780km is "an old peoples walk". I think that your "friends at a shop that specializes in hiking" need so be given some relevant information. What age do they consider to be "old" ?
Your friends could actually give people the wrong impression with what...
As a retired teacher we were always being told "duty of care" and it has stuck with me. I believe in freedom of choice, but I also believe in a working compromise. Thank you for your answer.
How Is Smoking Related to Asthma?
If you have asthma, an asthma attack can occur when something irritates your airways and "triggers" an attack. Your triggers might be different from other people’s triggers.3
Tobacco smoke is one of the most common asthma triggers. www.cdc.gov

What are you doing re phone, taking an international SIM, using Telstra from here or buying a SIM in Spain? I really only want my phone to take photos because it is better than my camera, but have little need otherwise. I will call into the Telstra shop tomorrow and see what they say. Enjoy...
We will be ahead of you but we will be taking it slowly so if you see a backpack with a forum badge and a kangaroo patch it will be us. Today we had a "dress rehearsal" walk. We were advised by a Spanish lady, who has been following our training, to be careful at ATM's, particularly in the...
It would be nice if our paths cross and we walk some of the way with you! We have backpacks with a forum badge and a kangaroo patch so make sure you say hello if you see us.
Enjoy your training and buen camino.
When do you start in October? Lots of the SJPP September starters will be getting to Sarria in October. If all goes well for us I anticipate we will be there towards the end of the first week/start of the second week of October.
You do the Camino "your way". We would not be going at all in 3 weeks time if we were entirely reliant on albergues and not having a small bag transported for my husband (due to disability). We also want to see the whole of the Camino Frances, so again it was a choice for us that we give the...
I know the feeling. I kept waking last night feeling really excited. I can't remember the last time in my life when I have felt like this. In fact, I don't think I have ever felt so excited - apologies to Miracle Man (husband) if he reads this!!!!! 23 days for us. I know how you are feeling.
Just a caution I thought I would pass on - if you are relying on travel insurance that your credit card offers then have a good look at it. The time of our flight from Santiago to Madrid has been changed and when I picked up the new ticket from the travel agent we started to talking about...
