Take care of yourself. Go later after more training. This isn’t one day, it repeats for several days. You might consider the Portuguese Litoral( along the coast) no hills for several days.
We found it difficult on Bookings to cancel or change reservations using our cell phone. Open Bookings map to see locations and if possible cross reference your Camino Guide. Bookings is unresponsive to any phone link, we had to eat fees for paid reservations . We had one albergue leave a critic...
Thank you for your service to the Caminos. My wife, Pamela Grubaugh-Littig and I have had the joy of being Hospitalero and Host and would welcome the opportunity again in 2024. We are on a fixed budget so finding an appointment in September or October would give us the advantage of finding...
Violence seldom brings any positive results. We were in that trains station hours before, headed home. It was sad to read the news the following day, we were fortunate. Religions and lands are by definition divisive, we share one world. Peace.
Authors deserve to be paid for their hard work. I buy the guides then using my phone photograph the pages, I can expand the images to see details and I haven't added weight.
My wife is the Hospitalero at Ribadiso and they are not nearly half full. Considering the Publik albergues where are you can’t make reservations but you will make friends.
Buy guidebooks and read them prior to leaving, Authors deserve the reward. As a book owner, I use my phone to photograph pages I want, I can expand the images and not at weight to my bundle. I have a stack of guide books and they all add to the story.
We have left a few Ukuleles at public Albergues and The Pilgrim House in Santiago. I'm sauntering with "The Last Patrol" this Autumn and would donate to an albergue in need on the CF.
This Forum is of tremendous service to the Caminos. I have donated and encourage others, you'll have to inquire if your donation is for tax purposes. Pilgrim House is another wonderful service where we have volunteered.
I was privileged to have experienced a simpler time on many Caminos. The introduction of fear and commercialism have effected what was. I believe it is still there, adventure, into the unknown where strangers become friends, not all dogs bite, crowded rooms full of world chatter. Packaging...
We felt fortunate that the review process was early and we jumped on an opportunity before ticket prices doubled. If we were paying current fares, our plans would have been put off. Hospitalero‘s of the world your time in Spain will be worth more than your education, because it introduces you to...
Buy your own supplies. As a Hospitalero I’ve seen toilet tissue disappear at an alarming rate. Wet wipes work better and take up less space in your pace. Consider others, we are a community.
Stina, you're correct in studying before you go, preparation is important, be prepared, be flexible, be yourself. It will all be new and you are allowed to adapt. It will be your Camino. We "The Last Patrol" will be there with you, leaving SJPP 9/20.
Try Disney World, few real mountains, the restaurants are reviewed, there are foreign lands and you won't currently need a passport or shot record. Please post comments in their local paper.
