Nearly in Santiago now and just a few observations, the Camino Frances never looked cleaner , it is a credit to the authorities.
Some idiot from Wales has done untold graffiti damage and surely he should be easily identified from his registrations each night .
The food generally seems better

In Hontanas tonight and met some wonderful people, it is great to be back . Temperatures are cooler than last June , everybody has got a bed and it is still fantastic value , €13 for a bed ( it is €10 down the street) and a communal
meal also €13 . Every nationality here and we heard there is...
It’s worth noting since you last walked in 2019 that a good number of Albergues have either closed for good or had not re opened in 2022 , I also walked in 2019 but returned in 21 and 22.
It’s bed shortages that cause the panic with rumours reaching back to walkers several days back
I took this route on a really hot 🥵 day by accident and it’s a long hard slog uphill till Luquin with no stops. I went the the other way this year for the second time and I preferred it but Luquin was a nice village to stop in so it’s definitely worth doing the alternative route

Los Arcos at 2 o clock afternoon, Albergue
completo and Pilgrims heading off in buses .It’s busy in the popular stops but Cirauqui last night had some beds .
My experience of rest days are if you stop at the bigger towns and cities and view the sites , by evening you will have walked as much as if you kept going and you are no way rested 🤪🤪
A nice village with a good bar and company is a nicer rest day .
It’s the people you meet that makes an Albergue memorable . I think all do their utmost to make their places clean and welcoming but if you return again it will never repeat what you thought made it special . But I suppose Life is like that too and that is what we keep chasing , Special Memories
Thanks Camino Chrissy , but I am only going for 8 days walking this time and doing the same sections as LHollo and as she is on there at the moment I was hoping she would have up to date current information . P
