I have some of that, but sadly, the arthritis is in the big joint of my big toe -- think bunion. Can't get anything around it since it's the main part of my foot.
It wasn't bad today. Everything hurts, but now that my feet are up, it's okay.
No blisters! But my arthritic toe is suddenly (starting on the train ride here) finding the edge of my boot now and then. This is new and worrisome.
On my other foot, I have a hairline stress fracture. Had it for a while now. Had my Rx inserts adjusted for it last week.
Felt some strain in...
7 hours and 45 minutes. Weather was gorgeous. Even a bit warm for a while -- I took the legs off my trousers, but later it got windy, so I put them back plus added my hat and gloves for a bit.
Hotel wifi is slow. I'll let you know when I get the blog to work.
For me the analogy between this and childbirth is amazingly strong. I had my ideas about how that was going to go. I planned and read and wrote things down and did my homework. And neither birth was at all what I expected. And both turned out just fine.

Better than...

I even have hiking skirts, which are great because they are cool, have pockets, look modest and a teeny bit tidier . . . but not in November.
When I loaded up the backpack the first time, it was exactly 6 kg. Might be more now, but also I figure I'll be wearing the heavier items most days.
And, it's true, there will be more civilization along the way than I'm used to.
When I was planning to leave in early Oct, I had a dress I was going to bring for evenings and maybe for looking nicer in the cathedral in Santiago. The sort of thing one could wad up and shove in a bag. But too cold for it now.
They are very small and light (the Yaxtrax). It was just a thought.
I took the advice about golf rain pants and had a little adventure. Found a really nice pair, but the best part was the guy in the shop had also done the Camino (years ago he said), but he started from here (Luxembourg). Also...
I have a whistle on the key ring with the key to a little padlock I have for just-in-case. I use the whistle often, actually, when hiking with a larger group and you need to get someone's attention because they are chatting and missed a sign or something. But could be useful if one fell or...
