    Zubiri albergue Suseia

Zubiri has been a nightmare to find anywhere to stay for a long time now. Quite why the municipal has stayed closed for years I don’t understand

Advice: should we attempt SJPP to Roncesvalles?

I’ve done the napoleon route 3 times - the first time stopping at Orrison which whilst lovely was so hard being there from mid morning leaving me kicking my heels and wanting to keep going. Hence the next two times I’ve gone straight to Roncevalles which i much prefer. I was in my 50s on all...

    Futility of Over planning

Thanks David. I took another member’s advice and booked a single room in St Jean to avoid spreading germs

Leaving May 14: How to deal with a hodgepodge of mixed emotions?

I am sure many many members will know exactly how you are feeling. I am two days away from departure and wondering why I am putting myself through this again after having done it before so I have little excuse for pre Camino nerves BUT your courage will reward you richly. That I do know without...

    Rabanal del camino to ponferrada

The downhill section starts a way beyond Foncebaddon and by the time you reach Acebo you have plenty of decent track and road decent ending at Molinesca. If you are careful I don’t think you’ll have an especially difficult descent. Just take it slowly.

True true. Thanks for your kind words. I did think about Valcarlos but that looks a bit lonely especially if I’m feeling rough

    Futility of Over planning

Thanks for the words of encouragement- just what I needed lying here feeling sorry for myself. There are however so many inspirational stories on this forum of real adversity so I am sure I can shrug this off

    Futility of Over planning

With just four days before my departure to walk CF I have been struck down with a heavy cold and flu like symptoms. My planning over the last month was text book stuff. Walking everyday culminating in a 35k walk along the north Kent coastline last Thursday. Now I will have done no exercise at...

    Statistics: what percent finish

I have two compostellas already so don’t see the point in queuing for a third. I do treasure the credentials though as I love seeing where I have been. I start Camino Frances again next week

Anyone planning to walk the Camino in May 2019

Hi there. I am starting St Jean 27th April. If you are quick you may catch me along the way. So excited I can’t wait. Burn Camino

    Starting again in Logrono.

Hi Peter I did exactly the same thing in 2015 returning to Logrono and I immediately missed my camino family from the year earlier. However within two days I had lots of new friends and didn’t look back! I think the natural tendency to worry about this is quite normal and what makes the...

Over Thinking and Planning you Camino

Not long to wait now then. I am departing SJPdP 26 April. I think the over planning comes from excited anticipation rather than from necessity. I have walked the Frances twice and this will be my third visit. I am not going to book any accommodation other than Roncevalles. I did that a few...
