LIVE from the Camino Anyone near Castrojeriz now

Why don't you just outright ask everyone in albergue if anyone is a member of the Forum? Also I would not call Albergue Orion a "Korean" one just because it's "famous" for its billimbab IIRC none of the staff is Korean

    Passport stamps

In your initial post you used the phrase "boots on the ground" So you well understand that until boots DO hit the ground everything is perfunctory and supposedly Assess the situation "on the ground" act accordingly and always have Plans B, C and Z.1234567 Don't worry you got this!👍 Good luck and...

    Re: Current Lunch Prices

Re some of the above regarding Camino as the 1st European trip. With All Respect Due completely disagree with @pjacobi What could be better than a 1st trip where your typical daily task is to walk eat and go to sleep? Even the language barrier is somewhat insignificant There is nothing needs to...

How much cash to take for cash-only Camino purchases

Ah... totally opposite for me. I come home, download the statement into my financial software and can have a full report on what was spent how. Camino would fall under "Vacation" category within which I have Travel, Food, Lodging and Miscellaneous sub categories) But to everyone their own. That...

    Re: Current Lunch Prices

try very hard NOT to walk after 2pm. Especially if its during the "hot" season"... man! that is testing your endurance. All the villages practically become wasteland - its like the scene of some Spaghetti Western where the whole town is abandoned and Cling East....er... YOU are the only person...

    Getting from Orisson to Roncesvalles

That, actually is a solid advice on ANY downhill, Camino or not!. I used it both ways going up and down on Camino Inca - it helps tremendously!

How much cash to take for cash-only Camino purchases

Yeah.... eating meals with bunch of people that I sometimes do not know too well on many various occasions taught me long time ago to politely ask for "separate checks" if I am not in the company of relatives and\or friends. Then there is no 'reluctancy'. I most definitely do not wish to...

How much cash to take for cash-only Camino purchases

Hello and welcome Many threads here as per above. I'm sure that my answers are in some of them. To touch on it fast I use credit cards extensively in my everyday life and my 2022 May-SdC-Finisterre Camino was no exception. Pretty much almost every place nowadays accepts them. A simple...

    Getting from Orisson to Roncesvalles

Some folks will tell you that it should not be used PERIOD! but of course to each his\her own. I had a wonderful weather when I started in May 2022 and folks at the Pilgrims Office in SJPdP were very adamant to go to the right (me begins to suspect that they ALWAYS say that ;))

    Getting from Orisson to Roncesvalles

as per @trecile s post - go to the right when starting the descend. it is not nearly as steep and will take you out to the road to Ibanetta. Its about 1km detour but well worth to continue walking on yoour own and not to miss the Col and the Way to it You can do it!!!! Good Luck and Buen Camino

Advice for Sleeping Options and Other Advice for Inaugural Pilgrims

To my best knowledge and as far as i remember - you will need it even in private alberuges. The credencial is what "identifies" you as a Pilgrim and extends the Pilgrim special nightly rates in the places (i.e. albergues, hostals etc) that cather to Pilgrims (I also think some of them wont even...

Death of American pilgrim in Castromaior today

That is SOOO crazy... I simply do not recall it "being steep" (yet so many of you state so and it does look this way on the Stage 31 map.... about 200m elevation). ...It was raining most of the day. I started from Casa Cruceiro in Ferreiros somewhat late because I wanted a bit of light to take...

Message from the Roncesvalles albergue - a difficult day.

This may start another panic rumor that the wet pilgrims are freezing to death in Roncesvalles! Which will probably trigger the by-pass of Roncesvalles and straight into Pamplona Which will probably trigger a bed shortage in Pamplona.... Kermit The Frog would probably say - It's not easy to be...
