    Looking for a group

On the bus from Bayonne to St. Jean Pied de Port the day before I started my last camino I already had 4 friends to walk with off and on (and party with in Santiago). Then that night in the albergue I made four more friends, one will probably be a friend for life. You really have to try hard...

Has the Camino Frances changed since 2014?

I noticed a re-routing in a couple of places. The most significant being after O'Cebreriro.
  7. DurhamParish

    Which part should I skip?

You might consider knocking out the part between Sahagun and either Hostpital de Obrigo or Astorga. Yes, some will call me a blasphemer.

Curious about tour operator pre-planned walks

Thanks McFloozy. It's nice to hear that other's have enjoyed their offerings. They truly are an amazing group of people who can bring the camino experience to those who may not be able to enjoy the camino otherwise. As a matter of fact, a group of us will soon be signing up for another...

Curious about tour operator pre-planned walks

Hi Sue-Sheila. Faith mentioned my name above concerning my experiences with using a tour company. I have walked 4 caminos the "normal" way, that is, without any pre-planning or pre-booking at all; and have also walked one camino on the extreme opposite end, with a not only was it pre-planned...

    David's refreshment stand before Astorga

Is this the place you're talking about. Took this picture on April 14th.

    Hôtel in Santiago.

The name of the bar is "Fuco Lois". I think I have visited this bar every night of my four visits to Santiago. Tell Juan you know the American with the wide brimmed hat. http://www.fucolois.com/index.php/gal/ https://www.facebook.com/pages/Fuco-Lois/126395274105840

    Hôtel in Santiago.

I always stay at the Hotel Montenegro. It's just a block away from the Cathedral, but more importantly, just across the street from my favorite bar. http://htmontenegro.com/Hotel-en-Santiago-de-Compostela-Hotel-Montenegro

Pffffttt!!! Spain . . . . the Camino . . . . who needs 'em!!! I've got loose plans for only two caminos next year. ;):D

I stopped my Camino in Burgos....why...

Yellowfriend, I'm sorry the camino did not live up to your expectations. Thanks for being so honest with us, as well as with yourself.

A Marching Song for Those Long Meseta Stretches

I took along lyrics to songs and on those days on the meseta, I put that time to good use. Learned the first verse and chorus to Ultreia. And I don't speak French.

The Meseta -to walk or bus!

I guess I have to differ. It's not that I don't like the Meseta, but it's my least favorite of the sections. I love Carrion de los Condes, and several other places along the Meseta, but I just can't say that walking those long, straight, flat, featureless sections is better than the SJPdP to...

If you were in a rush, which stages would you skip and why?

Yes, I guess there is always walking "on" the road.

If you were in a rush, which stages would you skip and why?

At the risk of being called a blasphemer, I'd skip any of the parts between Burgos and Hospital de Obrigo. While I find that section to have some inspiring moments, walking along beside a busy highway on a flat, dusty senda tends to get a bit tedious after a while.
