I love your remark about buying cigarettes - yes, you do have to plan on where to buy cigarettes. Best bet is a vending machine in a bar. And plan ahead - have a few spare packs in your backpack.

Congratulations to Robert for completing his long walk. It must have been a very hard walk but also very rewarding to reach Santiago.

I would love to go to Spain and walk a camino in the Summer of 2021, I miss Spain and I miss the Camino, I miss meeting the peregrinos. But I have to wait until the virus is under control so that we can be safe walking in Spain. I do not think it will be in the first half of 2021 so I'm planning...
I don't see Marmot backpacks mentioned. I have a Marmot and I'm Danish. Actually it was a post on this Forum that inspired me to buy a Marmot and not an Osprey.
It is possible to do laundry at the Pilgrim House, there is washing machine and dryer. And you can sit in an armchair and watch the people walking by.
I hope you have a nice time in Santiago. If you feel for a daytrip, you can walk to Negreia and get a bus back to the city.
