Update on the pilgrims who got lost: an interview. They turn out kind of awesome... they finished the Camino despite health issues.

From the article:
"For within hours of setting off on Saturday morning along the well-trodden...
I wonder if they were following Paulo Coelho's route? In his book, The Pilgrimage, he leaves St Jean and meets his mysterious guide, Petrus. Together they walk the Camino in the Pyrenees for a week, never meeting another person. They eat only fish and fruits of the mountains, and he's cold even...
You have several weeks now open to do what you want, and you're traveling light. A beach and a book, yes, but maybe also some volunteer work? Not with pilgrims tho. Any chance you could show up somewhere there are refugees in need and just pitch in?
I did the Camino in 2007 and 2009. Getting beds was a problem. Quite the race on some days, hostels filling up before noon.
Did from Astorga to Santiago May 2015 and it was fine. Perfect. So many new places have opened that I could walk as long as I wanted, stop when I wanted. There was always...
A good ap or guide book is essential for routes other than the Camino Francés. Eroski was the best I found for the Via de la Plata. I barely speak Spanish, but it was still much better than looking at vague instructions in English.
Ditto for a SIM card and data access. It's lonely out there...
When I finished my first in 2007 all I wanted was to do it again. So, 2009, and just now again this spring. Planning fourth. Walking takes hold and won't let go. This worries me, but I'm going with it.
Buen camino, again!
Hi Angela! We're both in Victoria... nice. St James Day, the 25th, is in two weeks. I'm thinking I should organize a Meet Up for all of us thinking about the Camino. Compare notes on longing to go back...
Hi KSM,
I got back just 2 weeks before you, after walking the Via de la Plata/Camino Frances for 6 weeks. I don't have a pet or partner to come back to, and definitely feel... what?... unrooted. Longing to go on the camino again, for even longer. Work is good, I like throwing myself in to that...
Hello Mahmud,
When I walked a few years ago one of the pilgrims was a Muslim man, I think originally from Turkey, now Dutch. He was great to talk to, made lots of good friends. He has gone on to found the Sultan's Trail, way marking a route from Vienna to Istanbul. He was a lovely part of...
I did this a few years ago, highly recommend it. Took about a week, spent 2 days exploring Lourdes first. I had done the Camino starting in St Jean previously, but it was rainy and foggy crossing the Pyrenees. I didn't really get to see them at all. So I spent a beautiful week in them, the lower...
