What is Your Average Walking Distance per Day?

Elevation change affects me quite a bit. I averaged 25 km/day on the CF, around 35 on the CP but 'only' 20 on the first week of the Norte. No rest days on any of them. It's good this thread came up again, probably lots of us planning with hope for a future camino. Mine is Le Puy to Pamplona. :)

Thinking of walking Camino Frances in summer 2021... in need of advice

I hope the covid situation is resolved by 2021, but it seems unlikely. Educator to educator: 1) Please remember that if you are teaching you will still have summers to walk the camino (or other trails/pilgramages). 2) If you are in teaching or in higher ed it is suprisingly easy to get...

    Camino In August

Last summer I did what you plan to do and had no problems. If fact I was one of less than 5 at the municipal alburgue on six occasions. I was spontaneous with the option of using cash to call a taxi (back to spot next day) or book hotel. Loved it! But do what feels right for you.

How busy is the Camino Frances in August? Can it be walked alone?

If you are nervous and want to stay in private albergues/hostels/pensions...install bookings.com app and you can book something over wifi after lunch if you decide how much further to go that day.

How busy is the Camino Frances in August? Can it be walked alone?

I had no problem last summer. I stayed in towns that were not atvtge end of guidebook stages. My alburges were all under 50% capacity...even in the last 100 km. And most were lovely municiple ones.

Camping on the Frances - My experience

Would a tarp be sufficient or would you recommend a tent? Basically I am hoping my poncho, poles and extra shoelaces might get the job done.

    4 more sleeps!

I feel similar and I am 17 sleeps away: elated and terrified. I didn't expect the latter when I realized I needed to go on this pilgramage. Thanks for the advice in the previous replies.

    First Camino in July/August

I just booked for the same time. Hoping to walk from Pamplona to Muxia. Maybe I'll see you!
