Thanks! So almost none on the Francés. Besides, the big influx of Ukranian refugees was last year and @maurice thinks it will become an issue in the future.
Sounds very unlikely to me. If finding a bed on the Camino Francés would indeed become difficult because of Ukranian refugees staying in albergues you would definitely read about that in (local) newspapers.
I digged up an old photo album. I took this picture in August 2014. This is what I wrote:
Foncebadón is deserted from everything, on a plateau where a chill wind blows. The only road in the village is a dirt track. There are about 15 buildings, of wich 4 or 5 are an albergue. There is a shop...
No, I didn't! Those were actually my first kms on the Francés ever. I was walking the Via de la Plata from Salamanca in August and at Benavente I was a little bit done with walking on my own. And also very curious about The Famous Francés everyone was raving about. So I took a bus from Benavente...

There seems to be big differences along the way regarding the level of saturation. I walked in Navarra last week and also noticed that most albergues were fully booked.
Home again. My observations:
- The Camino looks pretty normal again, although with much smaller numbers than before covid.
- The number of pilgrims seems to grow day by day though and it looks like some stages are close to their saturation point.
- Open albergues operate at 50% of their maximum...
I started walking from Los Arcos at 5.50am to avoid the heat. For the same reason (and also to avoid the industrial kms into Logroño) I took a bus from Viana to Logroño. I can tell you that my feet were very happy with this decision as well!
I enjoyed the walk and was thinking that I was just...
