It will work out. May be good to have an idea of the bus and train options in advance so you can have certain cities in mind as you walk, You can keep your options open. I had a similar experience. How much past Pamplona
Start in SJPDP and go as far as you can. I wouldn't skip in your situation. That way you can start where you left off on your next trip. Burgos is a great town to tour and catch transportation if you do decide to jump ahead for travel logistics home.- MIAPilgrim
