    One Albergue that you’d recommend

Albergue de la Piedra stands out in Villafranca del Bierzo. Very nice owners who are peregrinos themselves. Albergue Ecologico El Beso outside of Triacastela. Lovely owners. Vegetarian food. Albergue Casa Barbedelo outside of Sarria. Clean and modern, and the pool is an absolute treat on a hot...

    One Albergue that you’d recommend

    Spare shoes..required?

My advice to you is if you are not overly fit stop in Orisson but be sure to book this early. You don't have to try to make Roncesvalles on your first day. It doesn't have to be an ordeal. I walked the whole Frances in hiking boots and brought a pair flip flops for off trail/end of day use.

    Extra day off

Lovely albergue in Barbedelo with a pool. Very nice rooms and a good restaurant. Getting there early and enjoying the pool was like a mini rest day.

    The Meseta; Burgos to Leon

I arrived in León yesterday and just completed the Meseta section. We had lovely weather for the most part. The walk was not boring in the least. The Camino is what you make of it. The big blue skies and gently rolling hills have their own beauty. I found that there was only one day that could...
