My husband and I walked the Camino Frances in 2015 and started April 1, that worked out really well for us because we do not like the heat. In the 35 days we had sun, heavy rain, snow, fog, wind and hail. We never booked any albergues and never had a problem and we were slow so always one of the...
Hello Julia, if you are really worried then take the Valcarlos route which is beautiful also. You will pass some towns before entering Valcarlos to get a snack with your daughter. The municipal albergue in Valcarlos is very nice, warm and great hospitality. The town has shops where you can...
We walked the route last year on April 1. The pilgrims office will give you the instructions when you visit them before your journey. Do not be devastated because the Volcarlos route is beautiful. It is for your own safety and the safety of your rescuers. Have a lovely camino.
We spent the night this past April 1, and we did not book ahead so the pilgrims office booked us into a private room just next door to the office. We payed 25E for a double with breakfast. They are open until 10pm at the pilgrims office and very helpful. maya
Dear Rob, many thanks for the video. My husband and I were blessed to have done the camino starting April 1, shortly before your journey. Some of the views reminded us of our memories.
I have the same problem and felt often the pain on the Camino frances in April. Voltaren did nothing for me. I am not sure what DMSO is, sorry. What helped me but did not find out until 3weeks in is the drink Aquarius which you can buy in any store and every bar. Actually I am at home now and...
Have a lovely Camino and enjoy Orisson. We could not spend a night in Orisson because the Napolean route was closed the first of April. The shells are lovely. Keep us posted.Maya
The lesson that we just learned since being back from walking the Camino is drink, drink, drink, do not tie boots too tight or even change the lacing, shorten the stages. Maya
We were at the albergue in the beginning of April and never had any problems. It is unfortunate because it is very nice and good location. We did see them the odd time on our 34 day journey and when we did, we just politely left the establishment. Hope you will be lucky never to have them again...
Hi Roxanne, I have scarpa boots and have had them for a year. Next week I start my trek at STJPDP to Santiago and will be able to experience them on the Camino. So far I have had no issues. I bought them at MEC Canada. Maya
Hello Bobby, we are starting our trek on April 1, and we were discussing all our options. We also arrive at 08.30 but we decided to spend the night in Paris and we have booked the TGV to Bayonne the next morning. We did not want to take our chances in case our Air Canada flight would be delayed...
Hello Tpmchugh, just saw your posting of the weather for April. I am starting April 1, and that would be great. Where did you find those weather predictions. We are still not sure which route but we will get all the advice from the Pilgrims Office when we arrive in STJPDP. If Orisson is open we...
Our camino is getting closer also. We have a direct flight to Paris from Toronto on March 29 and then the next day we are boarding the train to Bayonne and onto STPDP. We have nothing booked but will spend the night and also see if we can take the Napolean route otherwise the Valcarlos way. Our...
