If it helps I am 5'6", female of average weight, fit for my age, I'm 66, and carry about 7kgs ( about 15.5lbs old money) with water, and have never struggled with the weight.
I sympathise with you entirely. I broke my ankle at the beginning of November last year. Thankfully it was was low down on my fibular, so not a seriously load bearing bone and it was a clean break. It took 6 weeks before I was allowed to walk without the boot. I was then given a splint and...
Welcome amjam. Unless you have to keep costs down just go and enjoy the experiences you will encounter by just mixing and matching depending on what's there. You will meet so many lovely people along the way and experience much more. Enjoy, Buen Camino😊
I love it too. But have never thought to buy it in Spain because of its shelf life, once opened and having to stay in my rucksack all day. Not sure if personally, I could consume a whole pot in a day or two? Hope you do well on your search. Buen Camino
I've walked a lot of long distance paths and I invariably end up with feet that ache. You could say its par for the course. Especially if you are carrying a pack.
Hi, I turned 63 while I walked the Frances
Walk for your birthday. I celebrated my 63rd on the Frances late September. I had a wonderful rendition of happy birthday from my fellow Pilgrims at dinner.A wonderful way to celebrate any birthday.
The weather was perfect.
Hi I think it all depends how fit you are. As a 63 year old in 2016 I was reasonably fit when I walked the Frances, I planned in rest days just in case but never used them. Please don't miss SJPdP or the mountains, they are beautiful. Buen Camino
Its on in the UK this Friday 16th March 21.00 BBC 2.
I'm not a fan of these celebrity programmes, but I will be watching it but taking it with a large pinch of salt. How ever hard they try to make it realistic they can never experience the true Camino surrounded by film crew.

Take a light weight sleeping bag. It can be a little cooler and damper as you reach Galicia that time of year. Walking poles, personally I would'nt be without them, they take weight off your knees especially down hills and help keep you upright on rough and muddy ground. But poles like a lot...
Stay at St Jean and enjoy the atmosphere and the beautiful town. Start your walk refreshed and stay at Orrison and breakup what can be a long day enjoy the views as the sun sets. Buen Camino
Hi, I think you will be fine on the Napoleon route as long as you stop at Orrison the first night. You will have a wonderful communal meal there so there will be plenty of opportunity to get to know your fellow pilgrims.
