    Holy Year: 2021

I still have a year and a half before I even start planning. So far I'm thinking it's best to avoid the Frances. It's already busy July, it's going to be impossible to reliably get somewhere each night. My current plan is to walk the Northern Way, I live close to a ferry service to northern...

Planning my first Camino adventure - November?

I started mid/late October. Reached Foncebadón on Hallowe'en. Snow covered and looked amazing. Many close by this time of year but plenty enough were still open. The municipals are always open. I found I wasn't really carrying much extra weight because I was wearing most of it always. Still...

    Multiple Caminos...

I will be walking the Frances a second time this year. I really looked into doing the Portugues but in truth I had unfinished business on the CF and had to do it once more before any other.

Which pilgrim passport/credencial has the nicest design?

    The Slovak one is pretty.

Which pilgrim passport/credencial has the nicest design?

I met some Irish pilgrims last year and they didn't like the fact it was a book. I didn't think it was anything outstanding just okay but if it's the same design in a layout form then I will say it's an improvement.

Which pilgrim passport/credencial has the nicest design?

You can just get the credencial for £5 as a non-member. I just wanted to be prepared which is why I got mine in advance. Unless I was starting somewhere weird and not SJPDP I might have picked one up this time.

Which pilgrim passport/credencial has the nicest design?

I had the one from CSJ in the UK last year. I think they've updated it and now looks much nicer. Mine was fine for functionality. Clear maps and lots of space. I liked the SJPDP ones better. I think I'm going to be getting mine straight from that Pilgrim's Office in September this year.

Great video log of Camino Frances

He's done the Portuguese Way in March or April. I asked if he's editing it the long style ones like he did originally and said he is so that's good.

Repeating the camino - opinions please!

I had the mindset that I should use the time to go somewhere else, do something else. Ultimately I'm not with the CF even though I didn't feel like I really missed out on that much. I feel like I need to do it at least once more. I'm looking to do the CdN in 2021 from at minimum Santander...

Walking the CF for the Second Time?

I had been planning on walking the Portugues this year before summer. I would have had at least the minimum money I was comfortable taking, and more likely 50% more for total peace of mind. All my gear is sorted, except a new hip strap for my bag. All that was left was fixing the exact date but...

Hello. Walking the Camino in October 2019

I started on the 9th Oct last year and was told it had closed just 2-3 days previous.

Leaving our walking poles in SJPDP on 7 October

Hmm, I'm leaving on the 8th from SJPDP. Been looking into what to do with poles. I have a bad knee that only seems to effect me when it's cold. Done some 7 mile walks and been fine and have a new knee support that's wonderful.

Route Napoleon closed 1 Nov to 31 March

What about early October? What are the chances I get to cross on what will likely be the 9th? It's just one stage I know but it would be nice to see the trail across the Pyrenees in the traditional way which is part of the point in starting at SJPDP.

    Can’t wait!

I don't want to get in the habit of booking ahead. I'm going to see what I can do about transport to SJPDP. I know there's a bus service for pilgrims. If I can book that then I might want to play it cool but I do definitely want to do that leg to Roncesvalles in a day but Im might be foolish to...

    Can’t wait!

I hopefully start 9th October. Arrive SJPDP the day before. If everything goes right I will get there around 7pm and get to the pilgrim's office but if things don't go right I won't be able to get there until it's just enough time to get straight to sleep and will have to wait until it opens the...

    September 2018 who’s going?

I will hopefully be leaving then too. Waiting for my national passport. I don't know when it will arrive so I can't book any of the flights. Lowest I've seen is £68 return but can be 3-4× that even 5× closer to the date. I'm not prepared to do my first Camino in winter. Plus I won't get my paid...
