How busy is the Frances these days?

Felt the same when I did the Portuguese and part of the Norte after doing the Frances. Missed the Camraderie which I regained by doing SJPP to Burgos on CF in 2019. Arrived in Bilbao today and bussing tomorrow to Burgos to rejoin the CF for a week or 2. I’ll let you know how I find it and I’ve...

    It’s busy

So many on repeat Camino visits may only do sections of the route so the data could be very misleading. I myself will hopefully be starting again at Burgos on Saturday but only likely walk for 2 weeks or so so unlikely to be in the data at all apart from where I rest my head.

    Pamplona to Uterga

Thanks, im still hoping by travelling alone and happy to go with the flow that the Camino will provide as prebooking takes the edge of the experience. But always good to know what is actually open.

    Pamplona to Uterga

Talking of accommodation that is open, Im hoping to rejoin the CF at Burgos on Saturday the 11th. Is there a relatively updated list of albergues/hostels etc I can download. Ive seen one somewhere but it looked like it was created in 2017?

Where are the May Francés pilgrims?

As nice as it is to get live updates from the Camino its far more more important that you savour the experiences and not be stuck on your phones. I used to do the odd social media update after 10pm lock down and nights out before I drifted off into a well earned sleep.

Where are the May Francés pilgrims?

When I walked CF from SJ to Santiago in September/October 2016 I can say from start to finish I met and spoke to whilst walking or over a coffee/beer etc as little as 15 Brits. Didnt bother me in the slightest of course, had the pleasure of meeting folk from all over the world. The Group of...

Coping with change after Sarria - wisdom needed please

Peter, you were meant to get lost and the Camino provided you to help Esther during her moment of need. As for the original question, yes in 2016 from Sarria I did find it a bit of a circus to Santiago. But whether it was other walkers you recognised from earlier in your experience or you...

Camino Frances - Any Bed Issues?

Thanks for taking the time to reply, that has made me feel a bit more optimistic and as I hinted at before my previous Camino experiences have been 'go with the flow' and you will be alright and the next positive experience is just round the corner. Just considering jumping on a flight to Bilbao...

Camino Frances - Any Bed Issues?

Very interesting and helpful thread. It will not be my first Camino but was considering getting myself to Burgos and walking for 10-14 days in mid June depending on logistics. Having walked the Frances, Portuguese and part of the Del Norte before and never pre-booked a bed. This was part of the...

    Caminoforgood.com - virtual Camino

Have seen the virtual Camino advertised via caminoforgood.com and in theory sounds like an excellent idea to generate much needed money for those owning and running the albergues to get back on their feet for the future. I am more than happy to relive the memories of my 2016 Camino Frances...

Who is walking the Camino in April 2019?

I was only ever going to do about 2 weeks plus so Burgos was a sensible logistical place to pull off as I could get a coach to Bilbao and €57 flight to London booked 48 hrs before I flew. I did not stop at Burgos because how busy it was, it dramatically quietened down by the Tuesday after...

Who is walking the Camino in April 2019?

Hi Vaughan started the same day as you and called it a day at Burgos on Sunday. The first 5 days were all a Camino should not be, so stressful as my mistake hadn’t taken into account the extra number of people walking over Easter. The infrastructure couldn’t cope. I’m stubborn and refused to...

    Still As Busy?

Having made a schoolboy error and started a short Camino from St Jean to Burgos on the 17th April, I would encourage those considering any future Camino’s to take into account Easter and any other local holiday breaks. In short I started walking 3 days before the Easter weekend, my fault I...

Who is walking the Camino in April 2019?

How’s the numbers arrive at St Jean tomorrow. Miscalculated how busy Easter April May be. 🙈

Who is walking the Camino in April 2019?

Read that it's likely to be very busy so will see where my legs can take me. Not had the best preperation last week or so! 🙈

...and the Camino gets busier every year

I started my first Camino from St Jean mid September 2016, walked the whole route without prebooking anywhere. The only folk who did then were Americans. Set off next week 17th from St Jean and believe my decision to start so close to Easter maybe a bad one as the last thing I fancy is a bed...

Who is walking the Camino in April 2019?

Starting from St Jean on the 17th April. Did the Orrison pit stop on my maiden Camino in 2016. Intend to push through to Roncesvalles this time. Will assess the weather and conditions before choosing my route.

Possibility of getting to St Jean April 16th

Well that's the flight to Biarritz and transfer to St Jean booked for the 16th April. So the new adventure will start on the 17th, anyone else starting that day. So here's to the friends I may make along the way. Honesty made friends for life on my first Camino Experience.

Possibility of getting to St Jean April 16th

Thanks for the link Monsap. As Jan says it will be the beginning of the Easter holidays but I'm hoping it won't be so busy it with be a bed race over the first few days if I was to start from St Jan on the 17th. What does your experience say how busy it is likely to be? Should be a couple of...
