There is no need to take the steep route down from the Col L. In fact, the longer but much less steep route that branches off to the right just below the Col is very pretty and easy.

I disagree about the boots . A few days ago I went up to O'Cebreiro in pouring rain that turned the paths into small brooks. Waterproof Salomon boots helped tremendously and the slight damp was helped by newspaper overnight with soles removed. I do not have sweaty feet, however.

LA Casa magica in Villatuerte: the dinner was 3 star(Michelin), vegetarian. Breakfast was great also. Dinner was 13 and b'fast 5, so more than usual but worth ever penny. The place is very nice, also. Amenities very good, too. Other people seem to have had similar good experiences.
