LIVE from the Camino Compass Chris on Camino Frances from Pamplona

Good luck, Chris. There are hundreds of us who would love to be on the camino now. Keep us informed of progress. Buen camino! Steve in East Anglia.

    “Cheating”

On my first camino, I didn't "cheat". Then on my 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th 6th and 7th caminos I thought to myself ... "In medieval times, if a pilgrim was offered a lift on the back of local farmer's cart, would he have said "No!"??? So ever since then I have taken a bus whenever the need arose. So...

Wa. Post Article lists Camino as one of the world's most crowded tourist destinations

Folk often ask why I don't walk a pilgrim route in England, instead of in Spain. I always tell them - if you can guarantee a temperature around 23 degs C, plus pilgrim hotels with en-suite B & B for £20, then I might consider it! But that will never happen!

August Pilgrims please help: Unguento still available?

Wow! Four years ago, and apparently no replies?! My comment will not be helpful, as I have never heard of, nor seen, that medication. Nidarosa - did you manage to find a source of easy supply? Did you walk any more caminos? Please don't think the forum is ignoring you!!! I wish you another...

One more fix, please: And a Camino travelling101 from an oldtimer to newbies.

Blimey! You think maybe you'll not be alive to make the return journey? Hope you've told your next-of-kin... My "final" camino is planned for next April/May. Being an optimist, I plan to buy a return ticket! Buen camino, Alex!

Hello lovely people. Newbie here looking for advice on 2 weeks walking in October.

Hi Adele! I think you'll get some great advice from others - I haven't walked the French camino, as I like peace and quiet - but I HAVE walked five other routes in Spain. October can be a beautiful month: of course you are well into autumn, but some wild flowers will still be out: just take some...

    Final planning stage.....

El Pais: Down the wrong path: Spanish city fights against fake signs on Camino de Santiago

Nothing changes. It has been like that for a thousand years, with the arrows enticing pilgrims to towns and villages to spend their money. On rare occasions it may even be beneficial - where there might otherwise be long, long distances with no supplies, beds, or chemists. As long as there are...

A Guyanese poor lonesome frenchgirl on the Camino Frances

Well done, Marie! I'm sure that was the first of many caminos: you will find happiness and joy and comradeship on the next .... and the next! Blessings from grey England!

    Too old?

I've had to give up - very sadly - because of physical problems [breathing and can't walking over 10 kms]. But if you're fit enough - just go for it, or you will for ever regret not taking the opportunity. I've walked the camino seven times: I would love to walk the Portuguese coastal next...

A New Zealand peregrina dies in Leon

Hello Kirkie! I've walked on about 5 camino routes, and have over 3,000 photos to remind me of those wonderful days. But I am now in my 80th year and problems with breathing and kidney function limit walking to about 5 kms. I wrote this poem some time ago: O I would go How gladly I would go...

A New Zealand peregrina dies in Leon

I'm with you, Camino Jim! I would love to die while in my sleep on the camino! Unfortunatey that is very unlikely to happen, as my camino days are, of necessity, over. However, my heart goes out to her husband Jim: I cannpt imagine life without my partner. Blessings from the UK .... and vaya con...

    recognise this statue?

Wherever it is .... a beautiful statue - and just LOOK at that sky!!! I miss blue Spanish skies!

    Traveling alone.

Hi Lynne! As a rule, as you're walking the French camino in June, you will never be alone. There will be other pilgrims you can see ahead of you, and others behind you. They will almost all be very happy to talk to you, and walk with you. It would be very different if you were walking the more...

    Is this sensible?

It all sounds fine, Barbara. Don't worry about whether it will warm or cold - you've covered both eventualities. Now just relax and enjoy the camino! There will be other pilgrims around to help if needed - and, as Robo says - there are plenty of shops in the towns en route. Blessings and buen...

What has happened to the Grey Fox? Nothing since "Day 2" eight days ago?

LIVE from the Camino Walking in March

Buen camino to you, @Thegreyfoxfromoz ! In spite of what some folk think, it can be very cold throughout Spain during the winter months. I have pictures of snow on the East coast - and also saw snow when I was there six weeks ago! But April/May are coming when everything warms up, and the spring...

How to stay over 2 nights - passport stamps needed daily?

I was stopped by the police in one small town. He had a gun. I wasn't going to argue. He pointed to my backpack. B----y h--l! He was going to search me! I started to take it off - he shook his head and pointed to a beautiful building across the street. I went into the palacial place, and found...

How to stay over 2 nights - passport stamps needed daily?

Is it true that if you get twenty Burger King stamps you qualify for a free burger?!?
