LIVE from the Camino Lost in Santiago

As most of you know, I decided to bus to Moratinos from Santiago and stay at Peaceable Kingdom on the meseta. It is located in a little village called Moratinos on the Camino Frances route. I am having a truly wonderful experience here with Rebekah and Patrick. I feel very much at home and much...

LIVE from the Camino Lost in Santiago

Thanks to both of you! Pilgrim House was there when I desperately needed it. You were a huge support in getting me to a positive place inside. You run a wonderful and much needed resource for pilgrims :-)

LIVE from the Camino Lost in Santiago

Rebekah...the bus runs only once per day from Santiago to León leaving at 8:00am, so I missed it today. I will catch tomorrow's bus arriving in León at 2:00pm, then I will catch the connecting bus to Moratinos. I'm not sure what time I will arrive.

LIVE from the Camino Lost in Santiago

Wow! Thank you all so much for your support, advice, quotes and poems. It is all valuable to me and I will refer to it much during my next weeks in Spain. To give you an update, yesterday I spent some time talking with people at The Pilgrim House in Santiago (a wonderful resource). There, I met...

LIVE from the Camino Lost in Santiago

Hello everyone, In September/October of 2013, I walked the Camino Frances from SJPDP to Santiago. It was a very special and life-changing experience. Ever since I got on the plane to come home I've wanted to return. Now I'm back and entirely lost. On May 6th, I began walking the Camino del...

    Feeling overwhelmed

Your welcome! I think you will be fine. These kinds of decisions along the way are all part of the journey. Things will work out. It's going to be amazing!

    Feeling overwhelmed

I think your first aid kit sounds good and small. For something to change into after my days walk, I brought a black skirt that I wore every day. What about your sarong? Could that be what you change into at the end of the day? Definitely bring the pants that zip off into shorts. You'll love...

    Feeling overwhelmed

I think you should be happy with the Tevas :). Good arch support while exploring after your long day's walk will be important. I took Teva's too and didn't regret it :)

    Feeling overwhelmed

Yes, you could take out the pack cover if you have a poncho that covers your pack, but I'm not sure about the rain pants. You may still need them even with the poncho. At least bring some gators if you aren't going to bring rain pants (which ever is lighter). You just don't want to end up with...

    Feeling overwhelmed

Hi Nicolette, I totally understand how you are feeling! It's a little overwhelming to know what to bring and what to leave behind. Remember though you can always buy what you need along the way. I am also from Canada and walked at the same time of year you are going. I walked from September...

    Returning to the "real life"

Yes, it was me! And thank you very much. I was so happy for the opportunity to share my journey with so many others. I'm sure you will have a fabulous time. There is definitely something magical about the journey. When we slow our pace down and simplify life down to basics, what's really most...

    my experience so far

Thank you for this post. Six weeks ago I tore my medial meniscus in my right knee doing something really careless. My knee has been locked up since and is extremely painful when I try to bend or straighten it. It will definitely require surgery to fix and I am on a waitlist. I am just happy that...

    Returning to the "real life"

Yes, there is a huge Camino following over here with the Victoria chapter of the Canadian Company of Pilgrims. There is a gathering of pilgrims every spring and fall. I didn't live here when I walked the Camino, but I'm sure happy I do now. It's nice to connect with people who have walked and...

    Returning to the "real life"

I understand your feelings. Even after nearly two years I still grieve the Camino. It was a like a blip in time where I lived this special existance away from the materialism and chaos of this life. I learned that the most important things along the way were the non-tangible things...the...

    Returning to the "real life"

Keep me posted on this too! I am also in Victoria and would love to connect with other pilgrims and share experiences :-)
