Sarria (or thereabouts) how busy right now?

I think it's VERY busy! At Melide and expecting it to get even busier as the Frances, Primitivo etc converge here.

    Female lone traveller

Generally no need to prebook ( Sarria to SdC a possible exception). I'm at Melide now and after one day problem (one albergue closed, next two full) I 'm now booking the day before . Not booking does give you more flexibility but it it will be a worry for you - prebook. PS walking solo is GREAT!

Sarria (or thereabouts) how busy right now?

I restarted my Camino from Sarria yesterday. I havent booked anything yet. Walked in to Barbedelo last night (nice 8 bunk rooms with shower/ toilet. Today I walked 17km to Casa Banderas. I think if you stay off stage you'd be OK BUT I'm told some albergues are NOT accepting rucksacks if you...

The airport shuttle goes to the bus station. The bus to Pamplona leaves from the same place. You may have to go upstairs to buy your ticket. Across the square there's a bar ...

    Bottom bunks

If you travelling in a pair they usually allocate you 1 top, 1 bottom bunk. In Agres (?) We obviously looked like tired old ladies and were each offered a single bed in a bunk room,. In Burgos I was stranded in a top bunk until it got light - trenfy uncomfortable ladder.

Planning to walk from Astorga solo, advice please!

Astorga is a lovely small town. The Municipal albergue is very good and has lots of beds. It has good bus and train services . Look at rome2rio for transport options. Madrid is a way away but the connections make it good. Or maybe fly to Pamplona and take alsa buses. Take a little time to see...

Rest day between Leon and SdC

I loved Astorga and the municipal albergue is good, especially its terrace if sunny. The cathedral, archbishop's palace are worth a look. There's a medical centre there too. It's only a day or so out of Leon so you might want to go further first. PS I took a bus to the outskirts of Leon and...

    LIVE from the Camino —Nájera

When I went to the medical centre at Astorga (April 2019) there was no charge (probably because I said I had a European Health Insurance Card) I was billed for the ambulance to Leon but my EHIC covered that too. The EHIC allowed UK citizens to the same free treatment a Spanish citizen...

Illness, injury, recovery and hopes for the Camino Frances this Spring/Summer

Buen Camino. I've been walking Camino Frances in stages. In April 2019 I intended to start from Astorga and get as far as I could in a week. Sadly, on arrival, I had a flair up of diverticulitis. The health centre in Astorga insisted I needed hospital tests and sent me back to Leon. After...

    Proper Bag Transfer Etiquette

I think it's OK. I had my mochilla dropped off at Orbigo, arrived to collect it and decided on the spur of the moment to walk on to the next village. There was no one around when I walked into to the bar, which made me think i was lucky it was still there, picked it up and walked on. I think...

    Bus ride to Logrono?

I've found major problems with bus timetables online in Spain. They often sat that they don't run on a particular route - then you discover there's a bus every hour ! There are buses from Los Arcos to Logrono- just double check for bank holiday type timetable changes
