Hi. I LOVE Pamplona and it's a wonderful city to recover from your travels. I am acually flying out to Madrid tonight and will take the train to Pamplona the next day and stay 2 nights in Pamplona. Just wonderful to walk around, sit at the main square and just relax. I booked Hostal Arriazu...
Well I walked my 5th Frances June 2022. I was expecting huge crowds after all opened post Covid. Turned out we barely saw any pilgrims each day . We did start walking later each day , Maybe that was why.(9 am, and yes I stay in private pre booked hostels so I don;t have to rush for a bed. It's...
My first Camino I planned rest days, after that one, I never did take an official rest day but simply do a few very short days. I am not a city person and don't feel the need to explore Burgos, Leon or Pamplona. However, I am originally from Europe so have traveled there extensively . If this is...
Hi , we're from Florida too and it will be my 6th Camino but first time this early in the year (leaving st Jean April 25th ) I'm bringing a very light windbreaker coat for warmth and a light rain poncho and a fleece and 2 long sleeved T shirts, and 2 short sleeved t shirts for the warmer days ...
We love solitude and welcome chill winds (living in the Florida heat all year :) ) Our main concern is rain. But figured (hope) the Meseta is a fairly dry area. ?!?!
After 5 spring/fall Camino's we're thinking about walking a partial Camino in February. Mainly the Meseta and maybe Santiago to Finisterra. Any tips /thoughts are welcome. We will be staying in Hotels mostly.
We’re currently in rabanal.
And it’s indeed HOT ! I decided today to break up the next stage in 2 days . Just 10 km a day till this heat is gone . We too are in our 60’s and I feel it’s too much for us to walk 20/25 km
In this heat . We got umbrellas and they help a bit but going uphill in...
Isn't it interesting how our views change. I "hated" the downhill into El Acebo the first time. My feet were killing me and I barely made it into town. The next time it was no problem at all. I was prepped mentally for the worst but somehow it wasn't. The same with the downhill from Alte de...
Wow, you made it and how !!!!! So fast and treating us to wonderful stories each day. Enjoy your remaining days in lovely Spain and till.....next time !
So I lost track. It seems like it was only last week you polled us about where to start :) You have 26 days. What day are you on now ? I guess it will only take you 3 more days to get to Santiago. How are your legs and feet doing after so many long days ?
I'm now starting to understand why you started in SJPDP with only 26 days. You walk the usual 2 days distance in 1 day !!!! WOW. How are your feet and legs responding to this ? At this pace you even might be able to walk to Muxia in 26 days lol !!!! Dont forget to smell the roses though. Buen...
I started 3 times in Pamplona and 1 time in sjpdp . The times I started in Pamplona were due to limited time. If I had plenty days to walk the Frances, I would start in SJPDP. So for me it's not weather related but time related:) Enjoy :)
Hi , I’m planning my 5th Camino for 2022 ( Yay)
Last camino was in 2018 . Now my partner will join me . It will be a limited ,somewhat chopped up Camino . 20 days .
My partner has health issues and won’t be able to walk more then 5 to 10 miles a day . So he will forward each day by taxi or bus...
