Did that once, but without the reasonable excuse that I was trying to pick something up. I just toppled forward, faceplant, splayed out on my belly, no reason. This was a wilderness excursion, not a camino. I'm lucky it happened in a wide flat valley, fairly smooth trail, not on an exposed...
Why, why, why, do people think this is OK? (Or just not care that it isn't ok?)
Does anyone else Fitbit? I'm using mine this camino. It has a very convenient vibrating alarm.
Yeah, ditto on this too.
I am never not astounded at the thoughtlessness of others. Albergue life is always a...
So if I wanted to get from Barajas T2 to Atocha as quickly as possible after my flight lands at 3:45 pm on a Monday (rush hour?) in late May, which would be best - Metro Line 8 (transfer to 10?), or EMT 203, or Renfe?
I've got a date with Guernika at the Reina Sophia that I'm determined not to...
I can't disagree with that statement. Absolutely, learning from nuts-and-bolts experience and taking real world, bread-and-butter action are solid values. But, seriously, it is pretty weird and insulting to accuse those who are not overly concerned about this camino race of "passivity...
Not really analogous. Trails, including the camino, can be designated for or off-limits to certain types of traffic - foot, bicycle, horse/mule, motorized - for the safety of its users, protection of that physical environment, and other reasons.
But if foot traffic is allowed on a trail open...
That's a relief to hear about the improvements! Back then, I thought that road route looked incredibly dangerous. I saw others slogging off in the sleet along a highway shoulder with cars whizzing by just inches away, and I had no regrets for taking the right-hand path.
My heart still always...
Whatever you decide, I would strongly recommend you do not take the tarmac way to O Cebreiro. It's not just the hard surface, but I find the close, fast and constant vehicle traffic to be the scariest thing of all. I did this 17 years ago (from Villafranco de Bierzo) so I don't know if the...
Yes, like I said above, art silk. But the TrekSilk company makes pure silk ones too. They're just more expensive and more trouble to care for properly. Not sure if the seller I linked carries those or not.
On one hand, I'm impressed by your generosity and helping spirit. On the other hand, I can't imagine I'd ever let a stranger come anywhere near my feet with a scalpel.
Did you have many takers?
I did the same. I got the "art silk" one so it is sturdier, easier to maintain, and machine washable. Mine is also a "double" (~9 oz) so I have plenty of room (hate constricting bags), and was just $14.oo. If it's chillier, I can also flip the other half over me for extra warmth. Even...
