    Burgos accomodation

Hi all I am arriving in Burgos by bus on Sunday 30 April this year arriving hopefully around 7:30 pat the bus station. The hotels on Booking.com look a bit exopensive so looking for a albergue or hostel. I have stayed previously at the Association up behind the cathedral but I suspect the may be...

    Remote working while walking

Yes easily done. I met an Irish couple. They stayed in hotels when he needed good wifi for work. He was quite manic though and would often “go for a run” at the end of the day. Whatever floats your boat!

About to start my first Camino. Eek!

Have fun Leon is a great place to start. I even enjoyed the walk out of town rather then bussing to the outskirts. :)

Leaving SJPDP on 16 Sept 2017

Have fun and leave those walkers in your dust!

    Sarria Blues

I noted all the same things but it's such a small proportion of the journey. I just get further into my bubble and ignore it.

    Seven Week Training Program

Good advice! Don't feel intimidated by the skinny fit pilgrims you see. 7 weeks will just get you some basic fitness but once your walking do it at you own pace. I have been twice and both times would describe myself as overweight and unfit. It's lovely to be the last in each day and know on of...

    Albergues & Children

Yes I met some parents and kids in 2015 and the had to pay either the full rate or a smaller contribution. Good luck sharing a narrow bed with a child. Sometimes you can push two singles together

Hi I am 70 years old and I'm going to attempt my first Camino in April 2017

My family friend has walked every year for 15 years (mixed routes) and he started at 71! So don't let age stop you

    Over 65

Go for it I'm 15 years younger and have gone ill prepared twice as far as training and being overweight. However I did heed advice on footwear socks and pack weight. Take it slow and fitness will come!

    Parts to bypass -time limited.

Don't skip!! Making friends is the best part. Walk 3 weeks stop then come back another time and walk the rest. It's not all about reaching Santiago

    Question for Australian Pilgrims

I think Etihad flys out of Melbourne one stop to Madrid. Apparently they are excellent. Last time I used a travel agent to book which cost me $100 more then if I did it online but was well worth it for the after sales service

Which route to walk for 15 days

Hi I've done both St Jean to Burgos (14 days) and Leon to Santiago (14 days though dawdled) two years apart. Both were fantastic. If this is a one off Camino I'd suggest finishing in Santiago as that section is beautiful. Good luck

    Poncho with Rain Pants

2 Caminos later both with rain and mud and I would recommend a good poncho ( I bought a ferrino in St Jean) and rain pants. They kept my feet dry and that splashed mud off my pants. Also in April they were an extra layer at times. I had a cheap Rainbird brand that weighed hardly anything though...

I need to cut three days

OMG you've opened a can of worms. I'd suggest starting in Pamplona rather then skipping sections as you soon lose touch with any friends you have made. good luck with your plans

    Ponferrada

Albergue Alea is wonderful. I'd highly recommend the meal too

I Don't Really Like Leon but Mazarife?

I actually liked the walk out of Leon ! Met some interesting pilgrims and even though it was city outskirts there were some interesting sights. Then the second part to Mazarife was rural and quiet. I had an unwritten rule of no taxis, buses or trains as I knew once I did it once..... Agree Tio...
