SJPP to Santiago in 30 days?

Personally I didn’t feel like my body had really adapted until I reached Logrono but YMMV. I’m 32 and very overweight so you might reach that point faster.

    Trail Condition - before Molinaseca

I took a cab from El Acebo to Molinaseca and was very glad I did after hearing about peoples’ injuries at the next albergue.

Any chance of a store with men’s Hoka Speedgoats in Leon?

I'm surprised they're wearing out so fast. I wore the same shoe on the camino and it was still going strong when I reached SdC (other than being very very dirty). Are they getting overly wet? When you get the new pair, might help to stuff some newspaper in them at night so they dry out more.

Any chance of a store with men’s Hoka Speedgoats in Leon?

I saw them at El Corte Ingles in Leon just last month.

Bed bugs & getting rid of gear

Cortisone didn't do much for me either when I encountered some bed bugs on the CF last month, but I went into a farmacia and said "chinche de cama" and they gave me a cream of some sort (I forget the active ingredient) which worked well enough. Holding an ice cube on it can provide some...

LIVE from the Camino Current conditions: Big wave on the Francés

The wave will also spread out the further you go.

Your Opinion on how I will start

I was very glad I spent the night at Borda. In fact if I could do the first few days over again I’d go even slower: SJPDP-Borda-Roncesvalles-Espinal-Zubiri. That stretch presents many physical challenges, I think if you have the time it’s a good idea to take them very slowly. I didn’t and it...

Water problems in Villafranca del Bierzo

I just arrived in Villafranca del Bierzo. A storm two days ago washed a great amount of ash from a nearby fire into the water system and the entire town’s water supply is now unfit for drinking...

Flora and Fauna along the Camino Frances

I dunno the specifics but I can say you’ll encounter the most persistent flies in the world. :D

Walking time from SJPP to Borda

Why not cut out a day in Paris and leave for SJPDP a day earlier? Note you can also take the high speed train to Bayonne and connect to a regional train to SJPDP. I spent a couple days in Paris on my way to the Camino as well but found I didn’t enjoy them as I was too excited/anxious to get...

Walking time from SJPP to Borda

Those numbers are straight from my Apple Watch. When I said many breaks, I meant it. :)

Walking time from SJPP to Borda

It took me 3:45, but with many breaks. I set out from SJPDP at 8:00 and arrived at Borda at 14:50. I would suggest spending the night in SJPDP for a stress free start.

App to find water on the Frances

The Villiage to Village guidebook marks water sources on its maps.

Drought, Fires and August 2022 Photos

I’ve been on the CF since the 27th and fires haven’t been an issue for me yet. Currently in Boadilla having started from SJPDP.

    Albergues on the Camino Frances

Between Gronze, Google Maps and Wise Pilgrim you can get a reasonable view of which albergues are open.

Stopping between Roncesvalles & Zubiri - room share with 2 beds.

Espinal has some at least an albergue or two if I recall.

LIVE from the Camino Traffic on the Francés

When do the post-Sarria summer crowds usually die down? At the pace I’m going I think I’ll reach Sarria about Sept 1.

LIVE from the Camino Traffic on the Francés

I agree. I’m sitting at a cafe in Ventosa. Traffic since SJPDP has not been heavy and beds have been plentiful. I have yet to be in a dorm room that was even half full.

New Pilgrim, looking for strategies to find private rooms.

FWIW I’m on the CF currently (Estella tonight) and I haven’t had any issues finding either beds in albergues or private rooms as I go. I haven’t booked anything more than a day in advance, other than SJPDP and Borda. I’m sitting the Agora albergue right now, nearly 9PM, and not even half the...

LIVE from the Camino Podiatrist in Pamplona?

Can anyone recommend a podiatrist in Pamplona? Preferably English speaking. During the descent into Zubiri yesterday I think I developed what I think is a nasty case of posterior tibial tendinitis and I’m not sure I can continue without some professional help. I’ve developed a severe pain...
