Zariquiegui, any idea if accommodations have reopened this year?

the hike from Pamplona up to Alto de Perdon is awesome, but the hike down is a challenge. I started real late out of Pamplona (3:15pm) and was whipped after the down hike and stopped in a town called Obanos which was just 2km's from Puente la Reina. I really liked Obanos, but it might be...

    Camino Congestion - Change routes?

I think you'll be okay...especially after you pass Pamplona. People will stop at many different points after Pamplona. Buen Camino...it'll be a great one.

Suggestions for a place in Pamplona to spend 2-3 nights before stating CF?

best advice I could ever give is to "hike your own Camino"...it sounds like you're doing JUST that. Buen Camino

Suggestions for a place in Pamplona to spend 2-3 nights before stating CF?

you won't need 2 days to "recover"...fwiw (and I was familiar with Spain/Pamplona) I landed in Madrid at 6:00am, took a train to Pamplona and started my hike at 3:15pm from Castilla (where Running of Bulls begins) and hiked to Obanos. You would be wise to stay one night in Pamplona and then...

    Top 2 rest days places

I was doing a few 40km days and my feet were dying (legs were strong) and so I did Najera to Granon and considered the 26km's a rest day. I arrived in town at 11:30am, had a really good lunch and enjoyed some beers in the afternoon. It was perfect for what I needed. So shorter days aren't a...

    Top 2 rest days places

there's an albergue in el Acebo(literally at the end of the town) that is magnificent. You'll be putting on some KM's each day at that pace. I hiked it from Astorga and enjoyed staying at the place (although reactions are mixed...some have criticized my choice) as the room I stayed was...

    Orisson plan

I was totally psyched out looking at the materials showing the topography for the first day...I did not think the first day all the way to Roncevalles was bad at all. In fact, it was my favorite day of the entire Camino. My point is that if you start at a decent time, you'll be able to make it...

How steep is the climb to Alto de Perdon.

isn't that exactly what I said? yes, the climb up is easy...but coming down is quite arduous. (I'm American and arduous means quite difficult, fwiw)

How steep is the climb to Alto de Perdon.

I'd say very dangerous. I flew in from states to Madrid and took a train to Pamplona to re-start my Camino and started my day in Pamplona at 3:15pm. I was tired and hadn't slept...my legs were WORKED after that downhill and I felt the effects for three days...not until I left Najera did my...

How steep is the climb to Alto de Perdon.

climb up? easy once you hit the top? climb down towards Obanos and Puente la Reina...quite arduous. I believe there is an alternative route for bicyclists and I'd strongly suggest you look at that alternative.

    A Podiatrist in Logroño

I had hiked from SJPP to Pamplona in 2016...then returned in 2017 to pick up where I left off. I started in Pamplona at 3:15pm and made it to Obanos around 8:00pm or so...then Estella. I was getting my legs underneath me. Then I hiked 40km's to Viana (early July so REALLY hot) and felt it. I...

Accommodations in El Acebo de San Miguel

there is an albergue at the end of the village...I mean ALL the way to the end that was the best albergue on the entire trip. It was a newer build in 2017 and quite clean. They had a pool which was a huge bonus. If I do it again, I'm considering staying for a day to just rest up for the last...

Largest Albergue on the Camino Frances

Monte de Gozo has a TON of beds...it's just shy of 5km's from Santiago. I stayed there (and kind of wished I hadn't). The facilities there were fine. It was the only time I disobeyed my own rules and stopped there at 1:00pm and checked in and showered up. My plan was to hike into Santiago...

LIVE from the Camino Some Random Observations from My Camino Francés

congrats...you're already having a Camino experience which I'd loosely define as "go with the flow". I heard something early that I've always acribed to: "hike your own hike" which I mean that one should hike/stop when they want to. I was fortunate and unfortunate on my Camino. I didn't have...

    Rabanal del Camino to Molinaseca

vending machines? I did not see that. I had a wonderful meal there. I did the Camino in 2017 so things may have changed, but I doubt it. Someone invested some serious money in the location and the facility and so I'm guessing they would keep it up to date and nice.

Astorga to Santiago in 10 days

are you familiar with https://godesalco.com/plan/frances ? I'd try to get past O Cebreiro, but that's me...You want to spend some time there mid-day to afternoon (couple of hours at least) Camino provides

Astorga to Santiago in 10 days

I promise it's not a tourist trap...you might want to check in on accomodations...because I think it might fill up, but definitely a great place for a visit

Astorga to Santiago in 10 days

right on...I think O Cebreiro is such an exciting and fascinating place that I'd for him to miss out on spending an extended amount of time there. But everyone should "hike their own hike" and do as they see fit

Astorga to Santiago in 10 days

looks good except for the La Faba stop...you're going to get to O Cebreiro the next morning and kick yourself for not extending to O Cebreiro. (trust me)
