    How is San Bol?

2023 update: Lovely sweet San Bol. 4 bunk beds downstairs (8) and a double upstairs. Judith from Hontanas comes out to prepare the paella, salad, bread and wine. There is only one bathroom/shower, but everyone was quick and respectful. I was so lucky to be with a great group of people and made...

LIVE from the Camino @TiedyeAT on the Camino Francés

Last year on the Portuguese, (after Pardon), just as I spotted the roof of my albergue: I wasn't watching and "blip!" I twisted my ankle. Luckily, it was only a sprain. If I had my boots on, it may not have happened. A farmer, plowing his field, stopped his tractor, and half carried me to the...

    Weather concerns 6/20-6/22

If you use poles, I found that gloves prevent blisters as well as sun block.

Albergues full in Orisson - bad time to start?

You could always taxi up to Orisson (the steepest section) and walk on to Spain, or taxi down and up again the next day.

    Advice on skipping Meseta

How about taking transportation and visiting Burgos, Fromista, Shahagun (so), Leon, Villa Franca and Ocebraro? You could also rent a car or take a train along the Camino Norte. Spain is so lovely. Enjoy exploring: you’ll be back.

    Any Resolutions for repeat Pilgrims?

Be the Camino angel on this one. My 2nd Camino I purposely set out to help others, packing little extras to give out. It was a very peaceful walk. I also wouldn't walk with a distance in mind. You might have to make reservations for the next day, but don't worry about finishing this time (it's...

Newbie with questions for the French Way

I like the Morse Code method if you don't have an open end ticket. My first Camino (April/May 2015) I bused ahead when I ran short of time, but felt like I was rushing too much. I envied those who walked daily without destination. This time, I'm starting in Longrono and ending in Sarria, because...

LIVE from the Camino Day 1- feeling really rattled/unsafe- help?

I bet you don't feel lonely now, after all these responses! I suggest calling for a taxi when you need to. As mentioned, after a VERY long trip to Spain, you will need a time to adjust. Roncesvalles is a beautiful place to start, and still in the foothills of the mountains. Don't stop...

Where to buy a sim card with data?

I just paid off my AT&T phone, and boy did they fight me on this. They wanted me to upgrade, or sign a contract, or wait! "Wait...don't leave us! " was their attitude. The store rep said that I couldn't unlock my phone and that I should just buy their international plan (she didn't know what...
