I walked the Portuguese Camino in 2017 with my wife, who has challenged with her knees. There were a couple of days when we needed to call taxis (because of distance or elevation) and we just went into bars or restaurants and asked them to phone for the taxi. We usually had lunch or coffee while...
It seems like even best efforts to dig a shallow hole doesn't solve the disposal problem as the Camino is littered with TP! I agree that everyone should have a small plastic bag and take their TP to a garbage in the same way that you would if they were camping. It would make the path for...
This is great reading and I hope you continue writing throughout your camino! I'm adding lots of notes in my Brierley book to help while we're on that leg of the camino.
We are starting the "new-fanged-start-in Lisbon" route in early May so I expect we won't be in Porto until late in the...
Thanks for the replies; I ordered the Brierly book (the 2016 edition available through Indigo.ca right now). I'm also reading the blogs that have great information on this route and really excited to do our second camino!

Thanks everyone for the information. I just found an amazing seat sale to Lisbon so it will be June. Can hardly wait!
I'll be following the forum for routes, lodging, etc. as we plan our trip.

We are planning to walk the Portuguese route from Porto to Santiago next fall but I've just heard that the Portuguese route is primarily on roads/highways? I am just starting to do some reading on this route but wonder if anyone can share their experience?
Thanks,
Thanks for all the detail in your blog. The pictures of the people you met were great and the information was useful as we are planning to walk September 2014 and considering whether to do portugese or the frances route.
One big consideration is the terrain - it sounds like the portugese route...
