Thanks Sabine then it's not possible but I hope you understand that I only meant to have it as a deterrent for the women pilgrims then please ignore my comment.
We walked from Lisbon to Fatima and then Porto to Santiago in 2016. There were 4 of us, 2 couples. The walk from Lisbon to Fatima was mostly done on a national highway and a bit dangerous if not for the hundreds of local portuguese doing their own pilgrimage towards Fatima. The only scare we...
however remote, it would be nice to walk the Valenca to Fatima and be on Fatima on Oct 13 - feast day of our Lady of Fatima.. wishful thinking? We'll see
We did exactly that. The acqueduct in Villa Do Conde is amazing during Sunrise. I love the long walk along boardwalk in Porto. Here's our video. hope this helps...
We've done CP in 2016 from Lisbon but we detoured from Santarem to Fatima during the Fatima's feast day. Walking in May was cooler but wet. here's a video of our walk hope it helps you a bit.
On our first camino in 2014 with 2 other couples from our community, we prayed the 2000 Hail Maries which is pretty tough when you are on an uphill climb as you lose your breath. In our third camino, my wife and I just pray the rosary every morning as we start our walk. Later on, a priest we met...
We walked CP from Lisbon in 2016 and walked CF from SJDPP in 2017. For me, I can say that CF was tougher physically. The walk from Nascoes to Villafranca de Xira has some industrial areas but theres a nice boardwalk walking along the Tagus river just before Villfranca. A lot of road walking but...
Last 2016, we did Lisbon to Fatima. Back then, this stretch was so thin in accommodation that we have to book hotels and albergues out of the way. Then we did Porto to Santiago, we didnt have a problem in finding albergues except for Ponte de Lima because I believe there were just 2(?) albergues...
May 13 is coming up. it is the Feast of Our Lady of Fatima and a lot of Portuguese pilgrims walk towards Fatima. Thats why you might see a lot of bookings in the hotel. Camino de Fatima and CP shares the route from Lisbon to Santarem and then they split. Just like the outskirts of getting into...
Actually if you walk within 5-6 days before every 13th from May to October, a lot of local pilgrims are walking towards Fatima. The route for CP and Camino de Fatima are the same from Lisbon to Santarem. We didnt get an accommodation in Azambuja because 100s of locals took all the accommodation...
If I have to re-do my CP, we would like to include the Spiritual Variant near Pontevedra. I heard its beautiful plus we would have had 3 Caminos in one - Fatima, CP and Spiritual Variant. Who knows next time in CP, we might start in Fatima and take the Coastal Route then Spiritual Variant. Buen...
