Hi Mark. I'm sure you already know but, just in case, you can use Tuitrans... they now start baggage transfer from Porto. Just google them and you'll get their contact details. They're very helpful and very reasonable or were in 2015.
Buen camino
Absolutely loved it. Okay, only had the time to walk from Tui but it was great. Certainly not 90% road walking although there was some but mostly not main roads. Take the detour too, to avoid the industrial estate after Tui (momentary memory lapse of name!). We managed Mass every evening too...
Mig, hi. We used Tuitrans in May this year for a couple of elderly pilgrims unable to carry much and they were fantastic. It was all arranged by the hotel were we stayed the night we arrived in Tui. I can also highly recommend the hotel Hotel A Torre do Xudeo. Judy
Hi. Just back from the Portuguese route and the place we stayed the first night suggested our using a company called Tuitrans. Very reliable and not overpriced. We started just south of Tui; I'm not sure how far south into Portugal they go; I have a feeling they start in Porto. Their website is...
I'm doing the Tui - Santiago route in May '14 and as it happens, but can't for the life of me remember why, I have an old unused credential with the year 19__ printed on it. Do you think the authorities in Santiago will accept this?
Thanks
Hear hear. We'll be passing through the last week of May. But I'm a little confused:confused:. I thought there were only two ways - the one through the industrial park and the "new" one via the river. Where or what are the green 'desvio' arrows? Hopefully by May all will be dry and I won't have...
Hi. we are having a similar problem arriving into Santiago and starting to walk in Tui (we are travelling on a Sunday though). we arrive too late for public transport and so we are hiring a car at Santiago airport, driving to Vigo airport, dropping off the car and getting a taxi to Tui from...
Brilliant thanks a lot. Can you tell me if the last week in May constitutes the summer times for Masses or is it considered to still be the winter times? There seems to be an hours difference depending on the time of year but there ain't no dates/months.
Hi, Does anyone know where I can obtain/find out Mass times for the camino Portuguese starting in Tui? I'm sure there must be a website out there somewhere with the info. Thanks a lot. Buen camino.
Hi, I too am doing the portuguese route later this year at the end of May; I would be really grateful if you could email it to me as well and word document is by farthe easiest for me to deal with! judydaisy@gmail.com. I would have PM'd you but can't figure out what I am doing wrong. Thanks a lot.
Hi. I am planning on walking the Tui to Santiago stretch later this year with a very close friend who is a good deal older than me. She can manage approx 15km without too much difficulty. She would like to know how possible it is to catch a bus/taxi when she can't manage any more. She would go...
Can anyone tell me what the weather is like on this route in Feb/March. Not detailed obviously. But is the weather very unsettled at this time of year, is it usually very cold/windy etc, etc. Due to restrictions of time off work, I am looking at Tuy - Santiago. Also, what is the accommodation...
