Can the Italian section of the VF be done on €35/day without camping?
For me I found the VF in Italy much more costly. Typically a refugio you'd pay perhaps 5-6 Euros in Spain would be 12-15 in Italy. And definitely there is not the pilgrims' infrastructure as in Spain with often only one refugio in town. Nor do i recall any having wifi. But this was a few...- Old Bamboo

I agree with Lovingkindness about the signage outside Poggio San Lorenzo. I hiked that route in 2018 and the signs did indeed stop making things very confusing since i'd no guidebook. At a junction i'd no idea which way to go so tried both ways a bit before turning back to retrace to the last...- Old Bamboo
