hey Sil - another poem from Arn in the new Pamplona ¨Jesus y Maria¨ albergue - dated 18 April.
I finally feel like I´m in Spain after arriving in Pamplona. thanks for the reminder of the distance, trying not to rush but there seems to be a culture of getting up early and heading for the next...
thanks Deidre - i´m in pamplona now and just posted the stuff back when the weather turned cold! i have a long sleeve woollen top and a wind/rain jacket which is fine - if i get even colder i can use my silk long johns as well. worst case is that i buy something else, the fleece was an extra...
i should say that i got here about 3pm and the albergue only has 40 beds in the ´low´ season - it has more in July and August.
Clarisa, the weather is fantastic, no need for too many warm clothes, i am posting my fleece, beanie and gloves back. for some reason my pack is now heavy - 10kg, it...
i saw a poem from Arn in the book in municipal hostel in Roncevalles, dated a few days ago - i was there yesteday.
in Larrasonana today. be warned that the albergue fills up fast, i decided to walk from zubiri to here so as to have a short day tomorrow into pamplona - very long day today and...
hello class of 2008
a quick message to say g'day - i'm in StJPdP chilling out ready to start walking tomorrow. the people in the pilgrim office here are very friendly and helpful, a nice way to start.
i'm itching to get going now that i've been away from home for 4 days, no jet-lag to speak...
Hi Bem
I'm leaving Sydney on 20 April and start from St Jean on 25 April. Check out the Camino calendar at the bottom of each page, that gives you a good update on who's starting when.
You could also check out the thread 'Class of 2008'
might see you on the walk
good luck
Megan
any tips (anyone) for using their online booking form - keeps rejecting my email address and not submitting my booking enquiry form - I've tried both my personal and work emails - they both end in ".com.au" so I wonder if that is causing a problem. I'm entering my email into the box that says...
Not really - the Frighteners was filmed in Lyttleton which is on the East coast of the South Island not far from Christchurch (biggest city on Sth Is). Though NZ is pretty small and you could drive from Picton (port town in Marlborough Sounds - where the inter island ferry arrives) to Lyttleton...
Hi all
This photo was taken at Christmas on a training walk in NZ with my sister. I'm on the right with short hair and glasses.
Thought I'd include some of the beautiful NZ scenery for you. We were on the Queen Charlotte Track in Marlborough Sounds, top of the South Island in NZ.
Start my...
I hear you Arn - but the Target wool socks are actually very good quality and quite well cushioned. I've got a couple of pairs of Smartwool (or similar) socks too, will be rotating and testing best combos
Socks are one thing I am not going to ration or skimp on.
thanks for the advice
M
Hi Paul
I'm hanging around Santiago when I finish, perhaps a side trip here or there but am flying out of Santiago on 2 June then from London to Sydney on 4 June.
Hopefully we'll get to share a beer and Camino tales while watching other pilgrims limp into town
:D
I think the socks referred...
Hi Clare
I kick off from St Jean on 25 April (leave Sydney on 20th and get over jet lag, get to start of walk etc). I'll be staying in Orrision that night then probably Roncesvalles on 26th (though may push on a little further if I'm up to it). No doubt will see you at some point. Look out...
Good on ya Clarisa!
Looks like our paths wont cross on the Camino, pity. I am still planning to start on 25 April.
I discovered a woman at work is walking in May, she and her partner are leaving round the same time you are, I told her about this website so we might see her on here soon enough...
no mix up Vinotinto - I'm one of those NZers who left the country to live in Australia - I have the best of both worlds. There's a great (well intentioned) rivalry between Oz and NZ - its particularly amusing when NZ bands make it big in Oz and suddenly they're known as ' the Australian...
noted - thanks - i have been paying careful attention to all advice re packing on this forum. as my trip is a little way off yet and i haven't worked out my exact packing list i am confident i will do the right thing with regards weight.
i also note though, there is a lot of debate on this...
I have never worn makeup so that's not on the packing list!
I've done plenty of bushwalking and don't mind roughing it - I'm not taking anything that I think is extraneous.
I've seen plenty of pictures of snow in April when I am planning to start so I'd rather carry a couple more kilos...
Bought my ticket to London 2 days ago, leaving Canberra 20 April - no going back now - non-refundable...eek.
actually feeling very very good about it and excited. the universe is giving me signs that I should go in the form of scallop shells in unlikely places - my encounters with scallop...
