Paul,
My son and I did 250km of the of the VdlP this summer; if I can be of any help, feel free to send a private message. I've posted some updates on the VdlP section of this website.
Best,
Steve
Hi, Rambler
My 16-year-old son and I leave in 9 days for our first camino. I have wrestled with many of the same issues that you have, but obviously I will be better able to answer them in a few weeks. But here's what I would respond now:
1) The idea of starting in Burgos makes a great...
Hi, Lillian
I'm from just a few miles east of you in Jacksonville and will be walking the Camino in July. There seem to be quite a few of us Floridians using this forum. I should be back by August 1; drop me a line and I'll let you know of any advice I might have.
Buen Camino!
Steve S
Wow, that is a small world. My wife and I love Jacksonville; in fact, I gave up tenure at a small college in Tennessee to return here. We both have a lot of family here, even though I grew up elsewhere.
I wish you all the best on your camino as you sort out your future. May God grant you...

My son and I plan to make the Camino in July, our trip...
Welcome to the forum, Isabela!
I think you'll find a lot of helpful information here.
As a former academic myself, may I ask what your M.A. dissertation is on? Does it somehow involve the Camino?
Peace,
Steve S
Hello, Jane; I'm Steve and am also from Florida. I'll be making the pilgrimage with my 16-year-old son in July. I'd be very interested in hearing more about your trip when you return.
To answer your question, from everything I've read you will need your down bag for the higher elevations...
Jim, thank you for your response. We do plan to spend a day in Leon; I've been there before and it's a lovely city.
I am interested to learn which stages you and your wife planned, and how you transported yourself to Sarria after the injury. By bus? This information could come in handy...
Hi, my name's Steve, and I plan to walk the camino from Leon to Santiago (we think) with my 16-year-old son during July. We look forward to any input or insight we can gain from this forum.
