    I walked in August through to the end of September this year from SJPdP to Santiago. never once did I fail to get a bed, from sleeping on a matress in the village hall to a private room. Did not call ahead to book and as for Spanish you quickly learn how to converse for your needs, no blisters...

    Denise, Easyjet from Gatwick to Biarritz, bus from there to Bayonne rail station then to St. Jean or share a taxi. Not been my self but I have been browsing the threads and lots of members have posted times etc, and typical because I am looking I cant find the thread. Hope this helps.

    As a parent myself at 66 I am flying from Edinburgh 22/8/14 then Gatwick 23/8/14 arriving SJPP to start out on the 24/8/14. Hope you let your family read the various posts about lone lone walkers to calm the fears they have. All the best and Buen Camino, John.
