5th time on the Camino Frances April 2015

Nuala, coming from a hillwalking background, my typical 35/ 40 km days are not all that impressive, for non- regular walkers repeated days of 20 kms are a far bigger achievement and physical challenge and I readily and hugely admire those I see daily when on the camino who are dressing badly...

5th time on the Camino Frances April 2015

Well Anne, even if our paths diverge early after St. Jean, we can at least enjoy a coffee and bite to eat in St Jean on the Thursday evening if you want a teasing whiff of cigar smoke. See you at some point in Dublin Airport on the 23rd. Seamus

Anyone starting from SJPdP on 23 April 2015

Fiona, I'll be bringing a mid weight Berghaus ( Gore-tex ) rain jacket, will double up on cold evenings on the meseta for walking around in and a micro-fleece top for light showery days, it's always a compromise but c'est la vie. Seamus

Anyone starting from SJPdP on 23 April 2015

Fiona, just a little word to the wise, 2 years ago at the end of May when I 1st walked the Route Napoleon, the temperature after Thibault Cross went below freezing and there was heavy snow on the ground so be prepared for the worst but hope for the best weatherwise. Seamus

Hi Steve, welcome to the forum, if you're able to manage The Cuillinns on Skye, you won't have any fitness problems coping with the camino, I use my hill walking in Ireland for my core fitness and gradually increase the duration/ difficulty in the 8 weeks before a camino but also try to include...

hi everyone walking my 1st calmino beginning 15th july need help

Being a little out of your comfort zone is what makes it an experience to remember. My 1st camino I was very apprehensive about things like ordering food etc as I only had about 20 words of Spanish but my concerns were ungrounded. English is the lingua franca of the camino. Try not to have huge...

I've 3 kilos of Irish ham air drying at the moment on a line in the back yard in our glorious wet, damp Irish summer so if someone can manage a few dozen dried out, all crust bread rolls, we'll be able to have bocadillo con jamon Irish style washed down with Maxwell House coffee for the true...
