Suggestions on getting from Madrid airport to Leon?

I paid directly with credit card directly from NZ twice, one in 2019, and the other about 10 days ago.

Best Transportation Options (Meseta from Burgos to Leon)

Madrid, walk out of the airport terminal and hop on the Alsa bus outside.

    Samos start?

I love the walk in and out as well as Samos itself. The monastery is impressive and its a pretty little town with a river. I particularly love the walk in through the little villages, like the land that time forgot. The glimpse of the monastery through the gaps in the stone wall at the top of...

    A little whining...

I once had to race around almost the entire airport there due to our flight landing being delayed. With my pack on. Not fun.

We flew from Santiago to Paris, Vueling, cant remember the price but it wasnt expensive.

Need advice about shipping Luggage for 4-Day Camino Biking Trip

You can just send it ahead each day to where you're staying. Using one of the bag transfer companies.

Booking tickets with Renfe and Alsa

Ive always had a good experience with Alsa, but you certainly don't want to dawdle to the station - they leave on the dot. We decided in 2016, on a whim, to do a side trip to Bilbao and back from Burgos, and walked to the station with 15 seconds to spare.

Booking tickets with Renfe and Alsa

Ive taken that bus from the terminal and it was way better than the train I took the previous time. You can relax in the airport cafe while you wait. The bus was luxurious, cheaper and faster than the train option. Reclining seats, footrests, free water, snacks, wifi, a seatback screen and...

    Logrono to Lavacolla transportation wanted

Unless you have a reason to go to Santiago on foot on the last day, then drive back across Spain - you could just hire a car in Logrono, and drive from there. It seems you are taking the really long way - which would chew up some of your days in transportation.

Leaving Leon - take a taxi to the outskirts????

It never occurred to me to skip that part, or any part of the Camino for aesthetic reasons. If injured I would use transport, but see that stretch as just part of the Camino . The Camino weaves its way across a whole country - a mix of rural, village, towns and cities, and moving along it means...

    Flights home after Camino

Work out roughly how many kms a day you like to walk, divide that into 800, add in a couple of spares and go from there.

Stuck in Paris! Help a first time pilgrim get to SJPDP

Can you fly to Biarritz, and shuttle from there? Others will chime in with the shuttle details.

    Madrid to Ponferrada

My cousin walked with us to Villafranca in 2017. The whole walk was very spur of the moment for him, and because of the lack of notice, he ended up taking a taxi to Ponferada, a bus to Leon, and then another bus to the airport and a flight to London.

    20 hours in Paris

After my second Camino we went home via Paris, and it was wonderful wandering around post Camino. The centre part of Paris with lots of attractions is very walkable. We stayed on the Ile de la Cité, behind Notre Dame. Last time we stayed at the other end, close to the Eiffel tower and the Arc de...

Taxi from Pamplona to Roncesvalles late April

The last time I walked it was around a euro per km. May have gone up since then.

Is 1 hr 15 min layover sufficient at Frankfurt airport for connecting flight to Biarritz with Lufthansa?

I have had to make a wild sprint around Frankfurt airport wearing a pack, and arriving at the gates hot, sweaty, having barely made the plane. There was a delay in the plane landing for some unexpected reason, the timing was not meant to be so tight.

    Bag transport with Jacotrans

Yes, I've never done it more than than the night before. But they get to know you, and when you ring they remember you . (I dont book Camino accommodation in advance by more than a day)

    Bag transport with Jacotrans

I used Jacotans, and found them to be excellent. The envelopes are in the reception area wherever you stay. Just complete the envelope, attach to your bag with the money inside. There will be a number to call printed on the bag - either call yourself, or ask the hospitalero. Then drop your bag...

    Carbon neutral Camino?

One of the disadvantages of living so far away from Europe is the long flight there, incurring fossil fuel consumption and pollution. So I tend to make my trip longer as frequent flights are not desirable affordable or tolerable. (I cant afford first class). Air travel is really the only...
