I love the walk in and out as well as Samos itself. The monastery is impressive and its a pretty little town with a river. I particularly love the walk in through the little villages, like the land that time forgot. The glimpse of the monastery through the gaps in the stone wall at the top of...
Ive always had a good experience with Alsa, but you certainly don't want to dawdle to the station - they leave on the dot.
We decided in 2016, on a whim, to do a side trip to Bilbao and back from Burgos, and walked to the station with 15 seconds to spare.
Ive taken that bus from the terminal and it was way better than the train I took the previous time. You can relax in the airport cafe while you wait. The bus was luxurious, cheaper and faster than the train option. Reclining seats, footrests, free water, snacks, wifi, a seatback screen and...
Unless you have a reason to go to Santiago on foot on the last day, then drive back across Spain - you could just hire a car in Logrono, and drive from there. It seems you are taking the really long way - which would chew up some of your days in transportation.
It never occurred to me to skip that part, or any part of the Camino for aesthetic reasons.
If injured I would use transport, but see that stretch as just part of the Camino . The Camino weaves its way across a whole country - a mix of rural, village, towns and cities, and moving along it means...
My cousin walked with us to Villafranca in 2017. The whole walk was very spur of the moment for him, and because of the lack of notice, he ended up taking a taxi to Ponferada, a bus to Leon, and then another bus to the airport and a flight to London.
After my second Camino we went home via Paris, and it was wonderful wandering around post Camino. The centre part of Paris with lots of attractions is very walkable.
We stayed on the Ile de la Cité, behind Notre Dame. Last time we stayed at the other end, close to the Eiffel tower and the Arc de...
I have had to make a wild sprint around Frankfurt airport wearing a pack, and arriving at the gates hot, sweaty, having barely made the plane.
There was a delay in the plane landing for some unexpected reason, the timing was not meant to be so tight.
Yes, I've never done it more than than the night before. But they get to know you, and when you ring they remember you .
(I dont book Camino accommodation in advance by more than a day)
I used Jacotans, and found them to be excellent. The envelopes are in the reception area wherever you stay. Just complete the envelope, attach to your bag with the money inside. There will be a number to call printed on the bag - either call yourself, or ask the hospitalero. Then drop your bag...
One of the disadvantages of living so far away from Europe is the long flight there, incurring fossil fuel consumption and pollution. So I tend to make my trip longer as frequent flights are not desirable affordable or tolerable. (I cant afford first class). Air travel is really the only...
