I walked the Via de la plata last year. A Spanish 4 some were using local taxi services to transport packs on the Sanabres. Not sure on the price, but they were not complaining. Buen Camino
While I have done that route, it’s a long way and a long time traveling. Any delay on route can impact total journey time. I had 2 nights in St Jean, lucky for me as we were delayed and it allowed me to have an extra day exploring St Jean. Sorry lucky I booked an extra night. Buen Camino
Paris to Bayonne then to St Jean, is very practical, and no expensive taxis 🚕. It’s always about cost v practicality and time which you need to weigh up, along with what is easy. Buen camino
I walked the Via de la Plata this year, I had a one way ticket 🎫 into Europe, spent time in Germany 🇩🇪 Scotland 🏴 England 🏴 for 3/4 weeks. I went from London by plane to Madrid and on to Saville by train. I had no problem in any of those countries with not having a ticket 🎫 to leave.
I used the train in May it was 34 euros with one change, it was easy clean fast just over 4 hours, buffet car to drinks at good prices. When you reach Madrid your next train is free on the Madrid underground, you need to change your ticket
