I am sure that they should be able to accommodate you with others if you are flexible on pick-up time. Just get them to put you on their list and check a week or so before how many they are due to pick up. You then can decide on whether to use them or bus/train instead depending on cost. Pity...
I am probably missing something. The individual didn't choose a seat that he would have to pay extra for so accepted a seat that Ryanair would allocate - that is what I do. There may or may not have been a computer glitch so he had to queue for 20 minutes to get his boarding pass - I have had...
That was what I did so that I could arrive in Santiago early so I could enjoy the day as my flight home was very early the next morning. Whilst the distance isn't too far the initial few miles is a gentle (or not so gentle) ascent that would need to be taken slowly.
I used Ryanair on my 2 Caminos and they were excellent, cheap, professional, and more importantly the only one I could find that would easily get me to and from London/Biarritz/Santiago/London.
I had the same issue last year. I spent my time in and around Santiago and got the bus, 1 Euro, to the airport. Having walked into Santiago that morning, only about 7K, I had my walking clothes on, so I changed into my "best" clothes i.e. those that didn't smell too much. Spent the evening at...
My view would be if you are only 5k from Santiago it is almost all downhill and being so close to finishing you won't have a problem doing the extra 5K - you will be on a high! However, as others have posted there is no issue about the taxi and then back the next day to finish apart from I'm not...
I received a text the day before from Ryanair, or perhaps the day before that, to say that there were pressures at the airport and to avoid delay I should attend 3 hours before flight time. I must admit it was busy but it probably didn't need to be more than 2 hours before, especially as the...
I slept at the airport as I was supposed to be there 3 hours before the takeoff time of 06.25 last year. Not that comfortable but enough benches to lie down without too much of an issue. Just stay in Santiago until late, have a meal and a drink then get a bus/taxi - time passes quickly!
You could try https://www.pilbeo.com/backpack-transport/camino-frances. I used them for part of my walk this year. They were flexible and picked up at points not on their usual list without a problem. I stayed at Casa Sabina in 2019 and got good service, cheaper than the Ronsevalles Hotel...
Walking the CF this year I saw some really good grapes in the supermarket. Keen to get locally grown grapes and make my wife envious :D I bought enough to last me a few days, on the second day I spotted that they were imported from Chile!
My short answer is "no". I do walk to the shops rather than drive c. 4 miles round trip and I grow fruit & veg on my allotment. However, my reasoning has nothing to do with reducing my carbon footprint or cost as I like walking and the exercise and comradeship at the allotment.
I am just a little surprised at the number of posts on this topic. Walkers/pilgrims/holidaymakers have the option to use Booking.com or not, equally the room providers have the option to place their rooms on Booking.com or not. However I am a simple sole - well my wife tells me I am!:D
I would just add that by all means book with a Company but, unless the accommodation is in the middle of nowhere, don't book the evening meal. I have no doubt that you will meet up with others/groups who ask you to eat with them in the evening and that will add to your enjoyment.
"in most cases a relatively prosperous looking Brit" - You've not seen me going to start a Camino, especially if I have decided to look like a pilgrim and have grown my hair (thankfully I still have some!) and I've not shaved for a week or so!
