LIVE from the Camino Live....but for how long?

A week before my first Camino. I managed to wash and destroy my passport in the washing machine. A week of extreme stress, anxiety and rushing around followed. I was told 10 days for a new passport but received in after 6 - the day before I was due to fly :) I feel your pain...

Top tip for using RENFE trains in Spain

Top tip for using trains in Spain - don't always trust the RENFE website for train times. The website stated first train from Segovia to Leon today was 10.03. I thought I'd check other possibilities on Rome2Rio which said earliest train was 7.08 arriving in Vallodolid at 7.45 and then on to...

Yes, ask at any bar or albergue. They'll be more than happy to help especially if you have a cafe con leche whilst waiting!

Burgos to Madrid is only a couple of hours by bus and a good percentage go straight to airport

    Bus to Madrid airport

Its very close to town centre With your back to the cathedral, go through the arch in the far hand corner of the square, cross the river and its a couple of blocks furher on. Probably worthe booking at least the day before, or once you're sure of times. There's a handy ALSA app too.

Getting to an airport from Burgos

My wife and I walked SJPDP to Burgos last year. There's a regular bus service that goes from Burgos to Madrid airport T4. Journey time is 2:30. Bus station is central - I believe the train station is further. https://www.alsa.es/en/home We're starting again in a few weeks time from Burgos -...

UK to SJPP in a day (early May)

Well....after much dithering, I'm all booked up for my flight to Bordeaux and doing the Frances My wife and I watched The Way a few years ago and just looked at each other and said we have to do that, so that was always my driving force. Jenny has just had knee surgery so perhaps we'll do a...

Bilboa to SJPP and other options

Trying to work out best option for getting to SJPP in decent time to get my bearing. 1. Fly into Biarritz landing at 17:00 then standard trip to SJPP 2. Fly into Bordeaux landing at 10:00, then train to Bayonne arriving 15:30 then standard route to SJPP 3. Fly into Bilboa arriving 10:00. This...

UK to SJPP in a day (early May)

Thanks Walter - I'm on a relatively tight schedule but your suggestion about SJPP is a good one - like the idea of setting off after lunch and getting a few miles done. Was considering doing del Norte followed by Primitivo as it looks less busy but this is my first Camino and the consensus of...

UK to SJPP in a day (early May)

Or change back to my original plan of Camino del Norte, onto Primitivo - but having asked the question, nearly everyone says do the Frances as your first Camino Decisions decisions ;)

UK to SJPP in a day (early May)

Trying to sort out travel from UK to SJPP in early May - ideally leaving early in morning in order to get to SJPP in plenty of time to explore & get sorted to leave the next morning. The Easyjet flight to Biarritz isn't operating then, and the Ryanair flight doesn't land til 17:00. Flights into...

What is the best way from Wales to SJPP to start the camino?

Just planning travel from UK for my first Camino in May :) Easyjet not flying to Biarritz yet and the Ryanair flight doesn't land til 17:00 which is rubbish for starting the next day. The Ryanair flights to Madrid and Santander go much earlier, as does Easyjet to Bilboa. Which is the...
