Paris arrival ( day off to see the sights if you like or rest )
next day early train allows you to get to Bayonne and St Jean and have a look around should you want
thats what I have done in the past
IMHO there are more opportunities for rest days in the more interesting towns and cities on...
While I have always walked out onto the Paramo via Oncina, there is a bus route from the Villadangos area to Mazarife but the next one is this afternoon , so it may be a 1 per day service. I click on the bus stops on google maps to see this. It says 27 mins bus ride or 5 mins by car
there are a few websites that track historical fare data ( faredetective) , google flights etc but there is no guarantee that it will show best price etc as the variables are numerous ..oil prices , unrest .. currency fluctuations..

2nd Camino I had a better Idea and booked train tickets for approx date of return, overslept and then it became expensive again
My most recent camino.. I booked in advance...
Got to say I love the train trip from Paris to Bayonne and SJPDP . Meeting other Perregrinos & watching the landscape zip by at mach 3
I would fly if time was short or if I wasn't confident getting around Paris etc
