I've been okay with wine and other bottles in my checked luggage - wrapped in something soft and absorbent (like a towel), put in at least one plastic bag and then kept in the middle of the luggage. So far, no breakages.
BTW, I'm still not impressed both that you can't carry a reasonable...
You just can't beat those prices! It's a strange world when it probably costs you more to get to the airport than it does to fly a few hundred miles to another country!

Ryanair flights are very good and you can get some great deals, especially if you book well in advance. I've flown with them to and from several parts of Spain and not had any problems.
Note that the point about getting the right airport is important - Ryanair flies from Santiago to London...
Does it drop off at more than one point in Piedrafita? Last year, I was worried about missing the stop altogether, so as soon as it turned up we jumped off the bus. Is there somewhere online that has a reasonably detailed map of the area?

There are only three useful buses running daily from Santiago to Piedrafita - 8am, 9am and 10am from the bus station (there are later ones but they don't reach the destination until midnight - probably not practical!). Check http://www.alsa.es/ for details of times and prices.

I don't know if they go to Sarria but they do run routes round various parts of Galicia and have buses that reach down to Madrid. Having said that, there seems to be a problem booking online with a non-Spanish bank card.

I definitely would't describe the Ryan Air seats as hard plastic - they're not the height of comfort but perfectly reasonable for short haul trips. I'm not sure about the reclining aspect - never tried it!
