Hi NYC, as others have said the shells on the beaches after Santiago are quite small and nowhere near the size of the gift shop shells! Totally agree that you should bring a shell or stone from USA and leave it on the Camino. You'll see where to leave it once you start your walk. You can then...- jimmcauley
